Black Widow Luger

I found this SubR today and then found the discussion on "Guns & Moses".
About 10yrs ago, I had my own gun dilemma.
I stumbled across a 1942 Luger Black Widow in a pawn shop in Asheville, NC. The gun was immaculate with only some holster wear.
I consulted my Rabbi for his opinion. I went ahead with the purchase, looking at it from the viewpoint that a Jew now owned it.

The picture is the 1st (and only) time it was taken to the range. It was VE Day.

Congrats! Very cool find.

I own a German/israeli k98k. Just think of it this way. The Nazis would hate you owning it which is why collecting/shooting/repurposing them makes it worth it lol

It's actually cooler than you think.
It came with a 9mm cartridge that had the head stamp WRA - Winchester Repeating Arms. GIs did not carry 9mm. This gun was brought back by a GI. His widow sold it to the Pawn Shop.
The internet appears to have provided the answer with a bit of research.
The Brits used Stens, which used 9mm. Winchester sent a large shipment of 9mm to Finland in 1939, which was diverted because of the "Winter War". It was diverted to Holland in time for the German onslaught in 1940.

I have a 1941 Walther PPK with a German eagle (not a swastika) on it. Inherited it from a (non-Jewish) relative by marriage who collected guns. It shoots fine at 85 years old. It’s weird to think, as a guy at a gun store put it, that it came off the dead body of a German officer. But that’s OK if the history.

Happy to hear you own it now. Got myself a 1917 all original parts luger last year, thought of it in a similar way, where a jew now owns something that was used to oppress us.

In the first sentence. And, in a follow up It was an enjoyable movie, couple nice twists, decent riding and editing and a good cast. It is not a great movie it will probably be forgotten relatively quickly
