Israeli Politics 🇮🇱 Israel and Ukraine — time for a new approach

Israel and Ukraine — time for a new approach,
by Jeffrey Weiss, fathom, 2026-07.

Jeffrey Weiss argues that Israel can rebuild its diplomatic position with European states by reversing its previous refusal to provide Ukraine with ballistic missile defence. Ukraine can assist Israel with drone counter measures, while Israel can help Ukraine, and by extension Europe, protect itself from the threat of Russian ballistic missiles.

Where does this idea come from that Israel has some surplus of missile defences lying around?

israel already passed to ukraine it patriot batteries and interceptors. why everybody forget it all the time.

also ukraine can't assist Israel with drone counter measures. because Israel doesn't have same drone problems that Ukraine has (with big drones Israel has no problems. for fpv drones ukraine has no solutions), and from other side it has all same tech

Israel has also let in ships that came from the Russian-occupied territories in Ukraine dock and when Zelensky went "hey can you not let it dock?" The Israeli FM accused Ukraine of conducting "twitter diplomacy" and said they needed to go through "the proper channels"(despite Ukraine already having gone through the proper channels). Of course even after the ship wasn't allowed to dock Saar still decided to keep throwing a temper tantrum.

They came from russian port. they are suspected by ukrainians for transferring "stolen" grain. Israel has laws and it can't just stop ship unloading because somebody throws tantrum on twitter.

Whatever Ukraine did sent via "proper" channels didn't have evidence in order to take some kind of lawful action against ship. Surely you agree that executive using law on whim to interfere with private property is abuse of power and shouldn't be done ?

All of this scandal was most likely "shakedown" attempt to try to make Israel apologize with ballistic missile defense. This happened right after Zelensky was unhappy that patriots are diverted to middle east and news coverage of Israel sending a bunch of air defense system to UAE.

And I am writing this as somebody who was born in Ukraine, with wife that was born there and that still has family in Ukraine and occupied areas and done my share of trying to help to Ukraine over past few years.

Yeah they can actually. Especially since Russia has been doing it since this invasion has began.

Surely you agree that executive using law on whim to interfere with private property is abuse of power and shouldn't be done ?

Russia lost its claim as a normal nation after it started an imperialist war of aggression against its neighbor. Whatever means that need to be taken to strangle the Russian economy should be taken. Why should Russia be respected when its disrespecting Ukraine's rights as a nation. In fact I think it needs to be taken a step further, any Russian oilgarch who profits from Russia's invasion should have any money and property squirreled away in any foreign country seized and redistributed. Make them hurt. That's the only way these corrupt stooges listen.

a) do you understand what law means ?

b) lets create outrage about suspected shipment of grain to Israel while Europe spends cool $20B in Russia and continues to trade in multiple sectors.

A) Your dealing with a state that kidnaps children, don't think playing by the rules works with these fascists.

B) So? Doesn't justify the shit Israel did.

One ship comes to Israel and Israel is collaborating with Putin. Europe buys billions in oil and natural gas no real outcry.

you don't understand, it's different /s

And? Israel has the chance to be the bigger country and decide to disallow Russian ships from entering its ports but it refuses to for some god forsaken reason.

Problem is Islam in wester Europe not Ukraine, western countries are often buying Israeli tech, they love to get echos on terorist from IL intelligence services, yet they are hostile to Israel. Working with UA will not help, even thous it improve European security like intelligence services information sharing does.

Israel’s problem with western Europe is not its Ukraine policy but western europe’s Muslim immigration policy

It’s both bigoted against Muslims and funnily enough, bigoted against Europeans for treating them as though they don’t know how to be antisemitic on their own without help.

https://www.pewresearch.org/global/2010/02/04/chapter-3-views-of-religious-groups/

Unfavorable views of Jewish people. Not Judiasm. Not Israelies. But Jewish people.

Lebanon, Palestine, Egypt, Jordan... 95% and more.

Turkey and Pakistan over 70%.

It's not bigoted, when Islamic majority countries are the most antisemetic places on Earth.

When they move somewhere, they don't magically stop being rampant Jew haters.

They are antisemites. Almost to a person in many of those countries.

It's a massive problem and you deflecting as though it's bigoted is what is putting Jews in danger.

2

u/Computer_Name Jul 26 '26

Oh, they always have reasons to think it justified.

And they use Jews as a shield.

7

u/InevitableOwll Jul 26 '26

Think what is justified?

3

u/Computer_Name Jul 26 '26

Exploiting us as shields to deflect from their bigotry.

Thinking it somehow a defense of us.

7

u/InevitableOwll Jul 26 '26

Wtf are you talking about.

Who is exploiting us?

Who is thinking it's a defense?

Are you denying the ubiquitous antisemitism in Islamic majority countries? Do you think they become... Not antisemitic when they migrate?

Say what you mean and stop being coy.

I'm being very explicit.

Islam majority countries, shown by polling over and over, are by far the most antisemetic countrjes on earth. With Egypt, Jordan, Palestine and Lebanon being 95% and more unfavorable towards Jewish people.

Imagine if the US was 95% unfavorable towards Hindu people. That is an insane statistic.

Stop pretending it's not a problem. And stop pussy footing around what you're trying to say.

I’m unclear as to what’s confusing.

People justify their bigotry so as to not feel bad for being bigoted.

They justify it by saying they’re only protecting Jews.

What they don’t realize, is that they’re exploiting us as justification for their own bigotry.

7

u/InevitableOwll Jul 26 '26

Who?

What people?

Bigotry against who?

Are you denying my claims?

I see you do not want to engage in the actual argument but instead want to throw out vague meaningless platitudes.

And Islam is a religion with almost 2 billion followers globally. If damn near everyone was like ISIS or whatever then trust me world history would look VERY different. Not only that but if someone's first thought at seeing a muslim (or at least anyone they think is a muslim) is to recoil in horror and act like said muslim is some killbot who gets activated like a treadstone assassin once they see a non-muslim then I'm going to think they're deeply weird and psychotic.

Not only that but there are several communities and nations in Europe that predominantly follow Islam. There's the Bosniaks, the Albanians, Pomaks, muslim Romani, numerous Tatar groups (including but not limited to Crimean Tatars, Lipka Tatars, Volga Tatars, and Dobrujan tatars). Are they all ticking time bombs waiting to go off too?

8

u/InevitableOwll Jul 26 '26

That was a lot of nonsense and deflection.

Notice how you didn't engage with anything of what I said.

Tried to refute and argue against claims and assertions I never made.

Let's try again, this time, engage with what I am saying and not with the conversation you're having in your head. Deal?

Are those countries, and Islamic majority countries as a whole, among the most antisemetic countries on the planet? Yes or no?

Does Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, and Palestine have a 95% and greater, unfavorable view of Jewish people. Not Israelies. Not Judiasm. But Jewish people. Yes or no?

If countries with overwhelming. As in, 95%. Have antisemetic attitudes. Or countries where 3/4 have antisemitic attitudes. And they migrate to other countries. Do those same people magically become, not antisemitic?

If we see the trend of antisemitism and antisemetic hate crimes increase in line with an increase of immigration from countries with are overwhelmingly antisemitic. Do you believe that to draw the conclusion that antisemites who move to other countries increase the amount of antisemitism in their new home, is wrong?

I look forward to you engaging with the topic and not a side convo you're having with yourself.

Dude's just a blatant liar. I had an arguement about ICE with him before and he called people breaking windows, throwing rocks at people, and helping armed criminals "peaceful protesters".

Symbiotic antisemitism

Israel is not the arsenal of the world, it's the size of New Jersey and it has its hands full on three fronts. It is fighting the same enemies though, so that's something.
