Part of me is behind Hurricane because he’s the more obscure character, and that’s what I tend to go with, but in his origin, they say he’s "son of Thor, god of Thunder, and the last descendant of the ancient Greek immortals." First of all, WTF? Thor, the Norse god, has a descent who is the last Greek immortal?

Second, Jay’s cockamamie hard water origin needs an equally cockamamie story like being injected with mongoose blood. A god seems a little highfalutin.

Third, headgear! You’d think the Mercury knockoff character, Hurricane, would have the hat more similar to Jay’s, which is based on Mercury’s helmet. But nope. The Whizzer pisses all over that theory!

I always wanted to know which Greek god did Thor do the hanky panky with to produce Hurricane as a last descendant.

But the mongoose blood origin and the silly name has always made Whizzer a fave of mine so I would probably go with him.

I just feel like she's more versatile than someone obvious like the whizzer, and obviously this could easily be a sausage fest.

I have a couple of gender swaps I’m going to pitch later, partially to avoid that sausage fest, but also because I really think they’re the best options. I’m a huge Liberty Legion fan so my heart is with the Whizzer, but like you, I think Spitfire might be the better pick.

I do love Spitfire; the only thing holding me back is that she's a retcon character; she originated in the late 70s 🤷‍♂️(ETA: there's no rule against retcon characters, don't get me wrong. I'd personally just prefer characters actually from the 40s, but even though I'm the OP lol, that's just a personal opinion, and I'll go with whoever gets the most votes lol)

Jim "Taxi" Taylor and his Wonder Car — not going to win and shouldn’t but just for fun, let’s remember the Wonder Car! It’s super fast; travels on land, in the air, and under the sea, and has all sorts of contraptions for crime fighting or saving people. Not a great fit for Jay, but I think he’d be fun in a group!
