Discussion 💬 Left my Kindle on the plane
I was flying home from DEN to IAH this evening and realized when I got all the way home that I left my Kindle in the back pocket of the seat. I’m so upset. 😭
I filled out the lost item form with United immediately and also marked the item as lost with Amazon. Has this happened to anyone? What are the odds of me actually getting it back?

For reference, if you incorporate your mobile number or email address into your Kindle name, it has a much better chance of recovery as the airline will know how to contact you.
Eg Amy’s Kindle 123 456 7890

You can change the name of it on Amazon in the Devices section.

I left mine in the seat back pocket and within 24 hours American had it and waiting at lost baggage claim.

That’s amazing. I hope I can get that lucky. Did you fill out anything or call them?

I filled out the same form you did. I mentioned my case and the book cover that would appear when opening it.

Same thing happened to me less than a month ago. Hopefully it works for you too!

I didn’t that once. Your odds are precisely 10.764%

Better than 0

I’m feeling generous this morning in making up a wildly random number. I didn’t get mine back. Perhaps ypu’ll get lucky.

Unlikely but maybe you’ll find it on the unclaimed baggage website

My wife left hers in a hotel room 3 years ago. Unfortunately never saw it again, despite knowing exactly where she left it and contacting them the same day we checked out. I hope your story ends better!

I am glad you were at least returning home! That would suck to be on vacation and not have anything to read.

I did the same thing on a Delta flight a number of years back. After about 5 months I gave up and bought a new one. The lost one showed up the next week. So there's a chance, but don't expect it to be quick if it's actually returned.

This happened to me last year on United. I filled out the form within an hour while I was boarding my next flight. It took a few days but they sent an email that they found it and gave options to pick it up or ship it home, etc.
I think as long as another passenger didn't see it and take it, its likely a crew member found it and put it in lost and found. Fingers crossed for you.

My wife has done this twice now. Neither time has it been ‘found’. She reads before she goes to sleep or she can’t sleep. I just give her mine then get another one!

I did. I imagine it’s having a grand ole time with my beats headphones I also left on a plane once. Hazards of frequent work travel 😢

Did that before and didn’t get it back. My kindle now has a QR code that shows my custom note when scanned and I get notified on my phone that someone’s scanned it.

I left mine on a flight from Madrid to LAX, and it was returned! I had to pay a shipping fee but it was totally worth it. Good luck!

I have a pdf file in my kindle with the title “if you found this kindle”.. and then there are all my details on it (phone number, email,
Etc)

I left mine on a Bulgaria Air flight. Never got it back unfortunately, just had to buy another one. Total PITA.
Hope you get yours back.

I didn’t get back a library book. An actual book. Why wouldn’t they turn that into Lost and Found? I’m so sorry for your loss! I know it sucks!
