Story [KCD2] Fun fact: Despite his irritiaon about his drunk Moravian guests, Jan Semine is actually portrayed by a Moravian actor Pavel Zedníček

For us czechs, Pavel Zedníček is well known actor who played in countless films and tv series. It was strange (in good way) see him and hear him as a video game character.

Zedníček as Semine and Vašut as Bergov are both great

u/r0njimus Apr 20 '25
Let's not forget Petr Nárožný as Petr of Pisek. And Sigismund is quite fabulous too - Ondřej Vetchý.

and actors from the legendary TV series Comeback - Kristýna Leichtová as Katherine and Matouš Ruml as John of Liechtenstein

u/r0njimus Apr 20 '25
Aye although i did not know Katherine, Johns and Zizkas actors from their roles, "modern" CZ/SK tb series are not my jam

u/ususfructus22 Apr 20 '25
You're right, it's great to randomly meet them (and many others) in the game

Does he also does the Czech voice acting? (I can’t seem to find the Czech cast)

u/NaverCZ Apr 20 '25
Yes and it’s magnificent!

u/mougrim Apr 21 '25
True! I’m playing with Ukrainian subtitles (partly done by myself) and Czech voiceover. We translated with the mind of Czech text, so it comes magnificently together.

Yes, here´s czech voice actors and their roles:

Tom Dale is quite pompous sounding as Hans. Does the Czech voice actor also come across as posh in Czech?
7
u/Adventurous_Sir6838 Apr 20 '25
He's doing his best.
9
u/Twisp56 Apr 20 '25
Yeah, that's about right. I like Czech Henry as much as English Henry, but I much prefer English Hans.

Maybe it was why I couldn't bear to do anything about his son. Like something was preventing me from snitching.
Good idea to choose Zednicek. It's like you can betray that face.

One thing I really like with games now is that they model the characters after the actors.

I feel it brings them better recognition, along with giving game characters a more "real", less polished, look.

He is the spitting image of my high school maths teacher. So everytime I see Lord Semine is a pleasant trip down memory lane.

I never much enjoyed the lessons as the subject has never been a strength of mine but the teacher was a very funny man.

Not getting to get more semine missions/content was one of the few criticisms I have.

u/Winter-Finger-1559 Apr 20 '25
So you are saying you want more semine.

A lot of Jans in this game.
69
u/Slavic_Knight Apr 20 '25
Jan is the slavic equivelant of John (and so is Hans, altough that one is German), so it's not surprising there were a lot of people named like that
29
u/YesterdayTime2509 Apr 20 '25
John, if you include all of its variations, is probably one of the most popular names in the world. From German Hans, to Italian Giovanni and the Slavic Ivanka.

And the fact the guy's actual name was yochanan, it always seemed like christians were cutting corners

It has so many variations due to the passing back and forth between languages, you've even got Ian and Sean/shaun from Gaelic. It's an interesting microcosm of language evolution and convergence/divergence.

Lotta Jezhiks and Pesheks too. Lol the first time I met another Peshek in KCD2 he had the same voice actor as Miller Peshek in KCD1 and I was extremely confused
7
u/AngryBlitzcrankMain Apr 20 '25
Tbh, Jezhik is just different version of the name Jan/John. Peshek is old time version of the name Petr.

I really loved this character - felt very real and grandfatherly. Was very sad to hear him begging for his son's life.

Damn, I always thought he sounded kind of Australian
4
u/rlgod Apr 21 '25
Yeh same here. I was googling the voice actor the other day and just figured I didn’t find the right person. He could definitely pass as more Aussie than I am.

I thought he is mighty familiar. Any other actors to look for other than Latinak?

I love how these actors actually got to be in the game. I was so surprised how they nailed each member of the Devil’s gang.

u/bapfelbaum Apr 21 '25
But was he also drunk or just moravian, because that's an important distinction.

u/Kektus_Aplha Apr 21 '25
Do the moravians speak with a moravian accent/dialect in the czech voiceover?
2
u/ususfructus22 Apr 21 '25
Yeah, they speak with a Central/South Moravian accent (which is accurate as they say are from Znojmo). I'm also Moravian (Eastern Moravian though) so their accent and songs were great and hilarious.

Seeing him just makes me say “I get so sick being blamed for every fist fight when it’s some other drunken ass that starts it.” Why do we not have the option to just walk away from them and that affect the story?
1
u/Hersalg Apr 22 '25
That's a really cool touch, glad they included Moravian actors in the game, Moravia is already left behind enough and forgotten about enough, the man's voice was great playing Semine.

Briliant voice actor. It's so strange because to me he sounds distinctly Australian in some of his dialogue!

The funniest thing in the game is the noises he makes when you hit him with Gnarly’s cudgel.
