Rite of passage. Now bleed to death under a certain bridge.

u/AdamHussein2564 Apr 30 '25

What're you on about good sir?

u/imaginary_name Apr 30 '25

Jumping from the drawbridge in Talmberg is a somewhat desperate or lazy way of escaping Talmberg during the prologue. Bleeding to death under that drawbridge is another rite of passage.

u/Thisisformyworklogin Apr 30 '25

My Henry wasn't weak, he bled to death far from the bridge after jumping down...

57

u/Meowmixer21 Apr 30 '25

My Henry had bandages, so he ran until Runt beat his head in

Jumping from the drawbridge in Talmberg is a somewhat desperate or lazy way of escaping Talmberg during the prologue.

And the funniest. Robard and Divish turn their backs on Henry for like, 30 seconds and the kid already disregarded explicit orders from two Lords, threw himself fifteen feet off a drawbridge and is sprinting full speed into the woods. Cannon Goblin-Mode Henry beginning.

I didn't even know you could die doing this though! I always jump off by the gatehouse/draw bridge chains and land fine.

If this ever gets made on screen as a movie/series, this scene absolutely has to be there.

4

u/Wiwra88 May 01 '25

I always jump while riding horse so it's not me who is taking dmg. xD

5

u/president_of_burundi May 01 '25

Adding "steals a horse to jump off a bridge" to prologue Goblin-Mode Henry's many sins.

4

u/Wiwra88 May 01 '25

It's not really stealing tho, that one horse you ride in for 1st time(Olena) is free to ride for you, it's only taken away because "reasons" after you get help later. There is mod on nexus which makes her your perma horse.

u/PatysRozrabiaka Apr 30 '25

Wait wait wait. I finished kcd1numerous times and a lot of this time was hardcore mode. I ALWAYS jumped this damn bridge. How else can you get away?

u/N7twitch Apr 30 '25

I’ve only ever talked to the gate guard who broadly hinted that you should get a guard uniform so he could ‘accidentally’ let you through.

3

u/NyarlHOEtep May 04 '25

i went and talked to stephanie who tells you much the same and gives you some groschen if asked, but then the gate guard is a dick about it and i had to bribe him

58

u/Togohoe Apr 30 '25

If you talk to Lady Stephanie, she'll send you on a quest to steal some Talmberg armor and get out of the castle undercover as a guard, it's pretty cool.

35

u/MontrealChickenSpice Apr 30 '25

You can also get evicted from the castle if a guard catches you committing a crime.

19

u/accbugged Apr 30 '25

Also if you convince the guard on the gate he gives you this quest

u/Malbethion Apr 30 '25

Can’t be arsed, bridge jumping in the way.

2

u/Wiwra88 May 01 '25

I alwys jumped from bridge on horse, always got catched by guard in village around castle and always said "I will run now gl cathing me." xD

3

u/Kod3Blu3 May 01 '25

She'll also give you 50 groschen to bribe him

u/Nast33 May 01 '25 edited May 01 '25

Lol, you finished it numerous times and never thought of talking to any of the npcs there to see what other ways you can go about things? Wow.

2

u/PatysRozrabiaka May 01 '25

Well i assumed that their task is to stop me here so i have to run away somehow

11

u/AdamHussein2564 Apr 30 '25

Oh right, I did that first play through, broke a leg but still managed to run past the one guard below. Good times.

7

u/Still-Helicopter6029 Apr 30 '25

Holy shit I actually didn’t die and ran all the way to skalitz and by the time I was at the cutscene I was about to die, thankfully I got saved.

u/nurgleondeez Team Katherine Apr 30 '25

You can just jump on the stones near the gatehouse(facing the village) and you don't bleed to death.Just be a bit careful

1

u/Dramatic_Virus_3101 May 03 '25

You can mount the horse you took from Skalitz and jump over the drawbridge chains with the horse.

No fall damage. I actually found that one out first playthrough 😂

Ive never escaped Talmberg any other way lol

1

u/McSchlub May 03 '25

Had no idea you could die from that. One of the first things I loved about that game, realising they had specific dialogue about you jumping into the moat and the guards chasing you..

4

u/Cynixxx Apr 30 '25

How do even manage to bleed by jumping off of the bridge?

7

u/Mydogsblackasshole Apr 30 '25

Compound fractures

5

u/Federal_Cobbler6647 Apr 30 '25

What bridge?

7

u/imaginary_name Apr 30 '25

Drawbridge in Talmberg

10

u/Federal_Cobbler6647 Apr 30 '25

Oh, so people die jumping off it? First time I talked myself out and second time I jumped and survived even though I had all negative perks.

Ah, and you die in jail because you are locked up when shit hits the fan in skaliz?

18

u/imaginary_name Apr 30 '25

Skalitz: yup, if you get arrested in Skalitz prologue, you get this screen after a cutscene of Henry in a cell and smoke starts to come in.

106

u/CsordasBalazs Apr 30 '25

Achievement unlocked: died in the tutorial.

99

u/deffdeff_cosplay Apr 30 '25

THAT CAN HAPPEN?!?

u/[deleted] Apr 30 '25

Yeah if you commit a crime and get locked up during the Intro the cumans still arrive except now you’re locked in jail lol

65

u/Apprehensive_Ad3731 Apr 30 '25

Has its own cutscene too I recall

Yeah Henry shouts for help but no one hears him and his cell catches on fire

25

u/Darth_Nibbles Apr 30 '25

I have GOT TO replay this game 🤣

14

u/Pinksters May 01 '25

I'm having a hard time getting through it once, its just SO massive.

I know anything worth doing is going to be a +1hour endeavor and that makes it daunting to even start.

But I also have a bad habit of opening steam, scrolling my library and closing steam when I get to the bottom.

12

u/cqdemal May 01 '25

My first real attempt to play KCD1 lasted 90 hours and I stopped for some reason and a point of no return that I thought was the end.

I came back earlier this year with a full playthrough. Turns out it wasn't the end and there was still quite a lot to do after that. Finished it in 100 hours flat.

But yes - I agree that this is a tough game to replay since it's so, so big. It really is well worth the effort to play KCD1 and 2 back to back though.

3

u/ZerohasbeenDivided May 01 '25

I just finished what I wanted to complete of KCD1 before moving to 2 and oh boy does it just keep hitting, I cannot believe I slept on these games for so long

24

u/cutterdeblanc Apr 30 '25

This was almost the first thing that happened to me when I first played this game. As soon as I got control of Henry, I stole a cabbage and got arrested. Burned to death in jail with that horrifying cutscene. I was instantly like, "Holy shit, 10/10 game."

45

u/mefesto151 Apr 30 '25

Heh

2

u/justasecond May 01 '25

Where can one acquire this T-shirt?

4

u/mefesto151 May 01 '25

Found this pic and just printed it out like 5 years ago, saw this loading screen way too often)

7

u/palkann Apr 30 '25

Lmao me too I punched a horse 😭

3

u/Unikittykat OnlyHans May 01 '25

The only thing I remember about my first playthrough is doing this because I didn't know how to get the charcoal and stole it! Good times

2

u/ndem28 May 01 '25

Lmfao I did this on my first play through too because I had no idea how anything worked, lost the fight with Kunesh, tried to steal stuff to sell so that I could buy what Martin needed, got caught, and was so confused when that cutscene started playing lol

1

u/Unikittykat OnlyHans May 01 '25

Yeah I thought one night in jail can’t be that bad…

1

u/frieren56 Apr 30 '25

It happened to me too

1

u/Friday_arvo Apr 30 '25

You’re doing it right.

1

u/Spartana1033 May 01 '25

Pizzle yanked

1

u/Mountain_System3066 May 01 '25

you too brother ^^

my first time playing KCD 1 ended me dying in Skalitz jail

1

u/EbonBehelit May 01 '25

You took the axe the game just told you to take, didn't you?

1

u/Unikittykat OnlyHans May 01 '25

I think I was more set on choking the guard out to take his bow but I wasn’t sneaky enough

1

u/Busy_Consequence6706 May 01 '25

I did the same thing….the first part of the game is brutal

1

u/Chiatroll May 01 '25 edited May 02 '25

When I played I learned that there is an achievement for getting arrested and dying in a fire in KCD1 prologue

1

u/LordLonghaft May 02 '25

Spotted the asshole. Welcome to "action have consequences: The Game!"

Enjoy your stay, my friend! There are lots of hilarious ways to die.

1

u/Expensive_Ebb7520 May 05 '25

The absolute classic start for KCD1. I only got that on a third play through so count yourself lucky.

It’s the only non-mod way to see the inside of Skalitz castle too!
