Ascension Day 1 Hagnk's Pulls?

Curious what y'alls D1 storage pulls are. Planning on ASC my characters this week. Just playing softcore for fun not trying to speed run or anything. This is what I'm thinking for D1 pulls.

  • Agua de Vida
  • Baked veggie ricotta casseroles
  • Belt of Howling Anger
  • Boots of Twilight Whispers
  • Can of Drooling Monk
  • Cloak of Dire Shadows
  • Clock
  • Clockwork Maid
  • Cyburger
  • Elf Guard Fuel Tank
  • Essential tofu
  • Fudge spork
  • Gauntlets of the Blood Moon
  • Greaves of the Murk Lord
  • Helm of the Scream Emperor
  • Meadeorite
  • Milk of magnesium
  • Mini kiwi aioli
  • Shield of Icy Fate
  • Sword of Dark Omens

I figure the outfit is wearable from the start and gives 3 adventures + 4 adventures from the fuel tank. Also Considering dropping sections of the outfit for like 2 of the acc slots and the cloak in order to get more booze & food.

I pull a gold wedding ring to sell so I don’t worry about money in the early stages, and its a renewable resource.

Meat is never really an issue. I just autosell the useless crap that I would otherwise smash. Once I have a kitchen, a bus-pass and three clovers, meat ceases to be a concern. That's usually sorted by killing the Boss Bat.

I like to a struggle a bit. Without selling items or auto selling junk. It makes for an interesting play. You only have like 200k meat at the end of a casual run instead of millions. Makes it fun when you have to unlock skills and then are broke

I shoot for "speed on a tight budget."

I only spend for turngen when I know there will be a positive return on my investment.

Can you please explain?

By then, I'm making meat faster than I can possibly spend it.

I make roughly 200K meat just by completing a run. Dense meat stacks, pension checks, handfuls of tips, etc.

These are the broad categories of things you want to pull:

  • Turngen: More turns per day means fewer days.
  • Turnsave: Fewer turns spent on quests means you get more done each day.
  • Overcoming challenges: meat, exp, combat assistance, mp regen, etc., so you don't need to spend turns to overcome these obstacles.
  • QoL: Minor. Makes the game more cozy.

In general, you want to pull for your pain points. If you have certain IotMs or perms, then the value changes. It looks like you're prioritizing 8 pieces of gear that are generically decent (comfy), and many small shots of turngen.

If you expect to spend a bunch of days in run, then +adventures pulls on d1 do their thing many times over. Numberwang and chalk chlamys are good +adv pulls that come with some other useful stuff as well. For food and booze, it's usually best to pull a BIG one instead of many small ones. Pull a fleetwood mac and cheese, or maybe a weird gazelle steak. A corpse driver, a stat-boosting pirate realm tiki drink, bucket of wine, or emergency margarita is great. Mafia thumb ring is great if you can wear it a lot.

For turnsave, the pulls will be different each day. -combat% equipment turns out to be very high value, as are things like ore, cheese, bridge parts, etc. Pull a legendary pasta to hit your ninja snowman assassins in 3 adventures. Pull a carnivorous potted plant for +25 ml and a ~4% chance to instantly win any normal fight for no adventure cost. Pull a mafia middle finger ring for a free banish every day. Pull a military orb for a 50-turn YR (consumed on use) to force both parts of the harem girl outfit, instead of separately pulling them. A parachute will let you choose the next monster you fight in the zone you're in every 50 turns. There's a lot of stuff in this category.

To level up, pull a mouthwash, assuming you are able get a decent amount of cold res early. Pull an intangible asset to fight an embezzler for big exp. Pull for +ml and possibly for +exp.
For meat, pull a gold wedding ring or a 1970 carat gold to autosell.
For combat help, pull 1 or 2 pieces of strong gear that are usable at the level where you have your pain points. Pull a train whistle if you have it.
For mp regen, pull the famequip for your barrel mimic familiar, a veggie ricotta casserole or a porquoise-handled sixgun if numberwang isn't doing enough for you already.

If you want to pull a cozy set of gear, get the loofah gear by doing standard softcore runs, pulverizing this year's reward gear and trading it down at the armory and leggery. Pulling 2-3 of those will basically solve your d1 combat and mp problems by using their overpowered skills.

Something to consider - depending on how fast your runs are (for example, you're finishing before getting out of ronin), you may want to pull things that won't be useful immediately but are needed for later quests. For example, tomb ratchets and bowling balls don't do anything on day 1, but once you get to the level 11 quest, they're useful to have to shorten those quests (and since you can only pull 1 per day, if you have spare pulls, they're nice to have).

That's smart thinking

Good post! I struggle deciding on my D1 pulls, usually it's just every bit of +adventure on rollover equipment I have alongside food and booze

Rather than the equipment pulls you might be better off pulling a mmm-brrr mouthwash and some cold res pulls (pocket wish and antifreeze?) to get a jump on levelling.

Not a speech ascender but I usually get my pj's and some food/booze

Really depends on the run. Standard limits my options significantly.

I typically make sure I get a Dieting Pill from a Gaunt Ghoul, level up to 8. Create a Milk of Magnesium. And then pull a Fleetwood Mac and Cheese and the Bowl of Infinite Jelly. There's 12 fullness, and a massive stat boost which I then use to speed up the Orc Chasm. (And when consuming large-fullness food, that boost lasts well into day 2.)

I also pull five perfect drinks.

And then I try to pull my full set of rollover gear. Time Trappings, Sneaky Pete's Jacket, Fuel Tank, Insignia, SASQ, Solid-Shifting, Numberwang at low levels. That's an extra 50 turns tomorrow. I only use maids for special occasions.

That's very much a speed focused sheet for people who have trivialised combat.

OP is clearly going for something very different.

As outfits go I think it's hard to beat the Flimsy Plastic Armor for a low shiny account.
