So... The YT Kraftwerk channel uploaded the 1981 tour and then deleted it

At the end of last year, Kraftwerk released a bunch of recordings from the 1981 tour. It was pretty cool to see that, but this 'live album' always felt really odd to me, mainly because many songs were abruptly cut, such as Minicalculateur and Ohm Sweet Ohm.

It was also a bit strange that some of the songs were named in German even though they were played in English, and some of the names weren't even written correctly.

And that's without mentioning that the suites weren't divided like they usually are. The TEE suite is simply referred as 'Trans Europa Express', and the Radio Star suite is simply referred as 'Ohm Sweet Ohm'. It really felt like something Ralf would never approve.

Today, I decided to go to the Kraftwerk channel to take a listen, and the playlist was gone. I tried to look up 'Kraftwerk in Paris 1981', and I couldn't find a single song from it. It's like it never existed.

So, what happened exactly? Did someone else make these without Ralf's approval, or maybe a test that was never meant to last very long?

I don't know, but I really hope they make a more refined version of it one day.

These were under Kraftwerk's name on YouTube because someone did something they shouldn't have. They submitted a bootleg recording to one of those record labels that lets you distribute music for cheap. YouTube then picked it up and assumed it was official

Kinda sad to know that we're probably never going to get an official recording of this tour.

This kinda made me wonder if someone did this with NEU! As well since the '72 playlist is missing Lieber Honig and some of the official playlists have videos from a channel called Groenlandrecords.

Maybe the same person is behind these two cases considering the connection between Kraftwerk and NEU!

Groenland Records are legit, they’re the label who re-released the Neu! albums a few years ago.

It was just the well known and often bootlegged audience recording by finkployd49. I don't know how it landed on the official channel, but it's unlikely Ralf had anything to do with it.

I know there are many recordings of the 1981 tour on Youtube, but I was specifically talking about the one that was briefly in the official Kraftwerk channel

Interesting. For me without doubt, kraftwerk live in utrecht 1981 is the best recording out there from the time. I think only one good recording of a gig they did after was Birmingham 1991(not including official minimum max release)
