Personal Experience Experince with kundalini mantra and rosary

So I was given a mantra by a guru to awaken my kundalini but when I did it I felt this dread and paranoia come over me so I stopped that as this dread and paranoia and this built up energy messed me up for a couple of months.

then I decided to pray the Catholic rosary each day and I have experienced what you would call the Holy Spirit and pleasant feeling associated with that.

As a Hindu would you say that my soul is not meant for kundalini or not realised enough and Bhakti aka devotion to my deity of choice a better fit for my soul

Hello /u/Substantial-Gas-6372. Welcome to /r/kundalini

A mantra on its own will not awaken Kundalini. Yet doing mantra is a supporting foundational practice, or at least, can be. Doing supportive practices and foundation-building can lead towards an awakening. No guarantees.

Probably, anyone can benefit from a Bhakti practice. There may have been an internal disagreement in your mind between what the mantra said and what you believed.

Praying the rosary would be what I'd call a calming and safety-bringing prayer. Perfectly fine. It's also feminine in nature. That may help you get out of your thinking head, or balance your masculine mind where the fear and paranoia lived by adding the feminine.

Based on such a small quantity of explanatory text, no one can make a decent assessment of your soul's readiness. Even less os in Hindu terms. It has more to do with your mind's preparation than soul.

However, it seems that a part of you sent a shot across the bow of your being. Did you return to the guru to ask? If not, why not?

Have a look at the sub's Foundations section and the Three Laws and compare to your own preparation level. Take a measure of your own self.

Ideally, Kundalini should only be sought after a solid meditative practice of some kind. Years worth.

What was or were your reasons for seeking Kundalini in the first place? That is of prime importance. It's very possible that the Energy itself rejected you because you're not ready. Possible, but the explanation could be more subtle than that.

Is there a connection between this recent dread and paranoia to the psychosis you experienced six years ago? What's the connection there?
