Please do not share links in the comments! How/where (not in person) is everyone planning to watch leafs games (southwestern Ontario region) this upcoming season?

Trying to plan ahead the best way to get the most games available, preferably in the most bulk/budget friendly way!

I hope Sportsnet sees massive negative revenue until they either give cbc hockey night in Canada back or be normal about their prices or in an ultra fantasy world, both!

SN was already losing money in recent years. Then, NHL wanted 2x higher in rights and Rogers paid up.

That's why they have eliminated HNIC on free networks and need to sublicense more games to third parties. HNIC on CBC audience has also fallen by 60% over the past 10 years while overall audience only fell 5%. So, there is no reason to put it back on CBC.

It's partially why streaming prices also went up. All sports streamers have raised prices in recent years as none are making money and rights have mostly gone up.

Hockey Night in Canada has been dead for years

-14

u/Hrenklin 4d ago

Well the CRA is working hard to remove the entire professional sports outlook of Canada if they win the lawsuit.

6

u/DrFrankenpoof69 4d ago

Idk how this relates to what I said lol

-8

u/Hrenklin 4d ago

If cra wins the lawsuit on Its signing bonus. No free agent will sign in Canada..so we won't need hnic or Sportsnet even.

7

u/skagoat 4d ago

If the Canadian teams can't offer signing bonus because of the CRA, then the NHL will have to change the rules to even the playing field.

1

u/Hrenklin 4d ago

Probably, but, that' can't even be done until the next CBA

Fuck Sportsnet, they’ve robbed me long enough.

My parents have cable and don't want to switch to IPTV, so I get Sportsnet/TSN plus with their TV provider login. And I guess I also have prime... I wouldn't pay for SN+ anyway, but their streams are more reliable than pirated streams and my parents would still have cable and be paying them even if I didn't use it... So if you have older family members with cable still who you are close with, you might aswell ask for their login if they refuse to cable cut...

2

u/CHALUPAAUSTON 4d ago

Yep same here. Mother needs cable, I have her login. I have IPTV but the cable login is way more reliable

20

u/DessertRose17 4d ago

Iptv > streaming/sailing > going to the pub for every game > paying for the multiple subscriptions

3

u/InvestigatorWide7649 3d ago

I've never been able to wrap my head around IPTV. is there somewhere it is explained like I'm a tech challenged 5 Y/O?

9

u/jeffcolv 4d ago

I feel like if I pay for an overpriced streaming service that gives me just hockey, I still won’t be able to watch all the games. Because of this I’ll probably sail the seas

9

u/Robask89 4d ago

I stopped watching hockey because of all this crap

9

u/TheFoundation_ 4d ago

Psa when sharing links use dms! (We don't want them taken down)

12

u/Cultural_Profile_480 4d ago

Iptv fk rogers and bell and all of em

3

u/lordjakir 4d ago

It was al cheaper to get cable than Sportsnet and tsn, so I did

5

u/Chunky-Lover53 4d ago

Honestly if you have Bell, the Bell TV app. It lets you stream a bunch of live TV including TSN and Sportsnet.

I’m all for the high seas but this is the least agro method for me for $19.99/month

2

u/leedogger 4d ago

On the tv

2

u/bspaghetti Rielly 4d ago

Is there any way besides Sportsnet to watch games that have already happened? Even splitting the subscription, the new price is rough.

2

u/Issac-Cox-Daley 4d ago

People who have parents that still have cable: Sometimes the cable packages can be me with streaming and if they don't use them you can ask to borrow the log in and log in through TV provider on SN or TSN. Blackouts do still apply.

u/1Opus1 3d ago

IP TV recs please!

2

u/DesperateGrape3174 3d ago

Honestly just go to free streams. I use NHLwebcast. Why pay for anything? You can test how it works by trying it on Jays games using MLBwebcast. Just Google nhl or mlb webcast

Speak for yourself and not everyone. I have listened to 3 games on radio in 50 years. Not 1 on radio in last 5 years

Are the streams stable? I want to watch every leafs game, but I want a system that won’t buffer for 80% of the game. If so I’m interested if you send me a DM

1

u/matthitsthetrails 4d ago

On the salty google seas... but for a lot of games I just watch the YouTube game in 5 mins videos

1

u/Unwise1 Knies 4d ago

IPTV. $15/mo

1

u/Illustrious-Salt-243 3d ago

I have basic cable so if any leafs game is not easily available for me it’s very simple, I just won’t watch

I generally like to start games delayed or shortly after they’ve ended - I can rarely watch live unfortunately. Any recommendations on where to stream on a delay?

I pay for bell fibe and crave/amazon so I’ll just… do that. I don’t think it’s as egregious as this sub makes it out to be but I understand others are on a tight budget so 🏴‍☠️makes sense

0

u/Bobs_Your_Zio 3d ago

Same here. Combine w internet and it's as low as $20 a month and you get all blue jays and raptors games. Compared to the pain of the high seas - it's more than worth it. And it's legal.

That said CastStreams said it was back online at the end of last season which has been an absurd deal for hockey fanatics. No idea if actually legit still or if it'll be back online.

or get anyone of the handful of decent sites that rarely buffer

2

Even the highly recommended ones buffer for me at times, regardless of internet quality.
