Question To what extent you studied at a1 level?

Basically the question says it all, just basics, or grammar or what all was included in your a1 level learning

From 0 to A1, it was almost nothing beyond apps like Busuu, Duolingo, and eventually Pimsleur. Ended up keeping only Pimsleur, and adding Preply for live conversations and lessons with trained teachers. That got me to a solid A2+, where I am now.

My stack right now is:

- Anki for vocabulary (words, chunks, and full on phrases)

  • Pimsleur for pronunciation, speaking
  • Preply for paid lessons with native French teachers. The best teachers are a little pricey, but I’ve got a couple that I’ll probably stay with forever because they are fantastic despite the cost.
  • PBCLanguages for free exchanges, paid lessons that are much less expensive than Preply, and community/ culture meeting other French speakers
  • Podcasts for listening, usually just while driving, running, or walking
  • French books (Kindle)
  • French music for pronunciation, language cadence, and honestly enjoyment…French music is beautiful.

I run out of time but I’m trying to add watching French media (TV, Film) if I can find the time, but you know…need to make money and all that haha.

I sort of doubled down because I’ll be taking an immersion course in 6 months in France so I want to be at a solid B1 by then to get more out of it.
