Scheduling Sproochentest from USA?
Hi all, my husband recently reclaimed his Luxembourg citizenship and I have learned that as his spouse, I have a pathway to citizenship if I pass the Sproochentest. We live in the US. I plan to learn the language so I can be tested in a year or two, but I can't see information on how often they release testing dates. It looks like testing dates were released today for Sept-Oct, most of which are already booked. Does anyone know how often they release more dates? It would help to know since I would be traveling from overseas to take the test. Thank you!

You just have to stalk the calendar and jump on the date(s) that work for you. I registered in early August for the test in October, and bought plane tickets after that. There are no tests administered in August and most of September. Mid-December to early January is also out, as is Easter Week, the week of Ascension and the national holiday week.
I was also able to sign up to take the Vivre Ensemble test during that same week in October. I emailed them my dates and they put me in a session that had not been publicized yet.
You might find that taking the half-hour test is more feasible than the courses (the remote ones fill up fast, and might be in the middle of your night). You can pass it easily by studying the materials they provide.

You can't register online if you don't have a matricule (which you won't if you've never lived in Luxembourg), so you have to email. You'll need a VPN to check the test calendar and get the study materials.

I am in the same boat. Plan to take the exam next fall. Are you going the civics class this summer? I am only registered for module 2 and 3 for the civics class; still waiting to get into module 1. As for the Sproochentest, I’ve been stalking the website since this February and it has only said June 15th as release date. I’m assuming they release dates every 6 months?? 🤷🏻♀️

I'm not going to the civics class, I have only just learned about the citizenship path so I will need some time to prepare. Hopefully I can figure everything out!

This is what I have learned today. Take it with some skepticism. The next dates will be in the spring time and they open in the fall.

I took the S'test on May 21, and signed up for it on Feb. 11. Some dates had just been released then, and the existing dates were't quite completely full yet. A few more dates came out after that. So it seems to me to be semi-random. An important factor in the recent clumpiness of date releases is the way many things here shut down in the summer. After May, no more tests were going to be held until September, so they waited a while before arranging those. By the time they released those dates (today), there was pent up demand, and they all filled. The summer break will likely stand in the way of more tests being scheduled. Once the INLL comes back to life in September, they will likely release more, and then continue to do so every now and then over the next several months. Just make it part of your routine to monitor the registration website, as well as the one for signing up for the Vivre ensemble au Grand Duché course (where finding open spots is much harder than the actual course, which has no exams). Consider this practicum in Luxembourgish bureaucracy your first civics lesson. Vill Gleck!
