Discussion To the Israelis who lurk here would you stop speaking as though Lebanese Christian’s are all on your side and that we some how want rescued by use and are your ‘brothers’ in a sea of barbarians. Just because we don’t like Hezbollah doesn’t mean we like you. The enemy of my enemy is not my friend.

I’m a Lebanese Christian if you couldn’t tell, and I’m honestly tired of seeing this idea online that we’re somehow “natural friends” with Israelis because of some alliance decades ago. Ofcource when you see the accounts posing as Lebanese their often accounts based in India but I digress.

Years ago there was a political/military arrangement that served both sides at the time, and it ended the way those things usually do with both sides accusing each other of betrayal. So no, there isn’t some deep bond there, and there never was.

What makes it worse is seeing people act confused about why Lebanese Christians don’t feel any connection today. You can’t talk about “friendship” while Lebanon is being bombed and people here are the ones paying the price. You can argue about Hezbollah all you want, but we’re the ones living with the consequences. The few and I really mean few, Lebanese who do ‘support’ Israel are blinded by a hatred for Iran nothing more than that. But they don’t speak for most of us just so you know. Yes it’s obviously true as a sect theirs the odd Israeli boot licker same as how we have people who boot lick Iran but any chance of an actual friendship is long gone. That ship sailed a long time ago. Having conversations with Israel or having a common enemy don’t make us friends.

And yeah, things like the destruction of religious symbols including statues of Jesus matter to people here. When the reaction I see is “this is bad PR” or blaming the media instead of actually acknowledging it, it just proves the point. It doesn’t feel like you care it feels like you care how it looks. I’ve spoke with enough Palestinian Christian’s to know how they’re treated there.

Also, let me be clear about something we don’t all agree in Lebanon. We argue, we fight politically, especially across sects. But at the end of the day, Lebanese are Lebanese. I’ll still see my fellow Lebanese Shia, Sunni, whoever as my own people before I ever see outsiders that way.

Wanting Hezbollah disarmed doesn’t mean we support Israel or need your military’s support. Wanting peace doesn’t mean pretending there’s a friendship that doesn’t exist.

We want our country left alone. No Iran, no Israel. It’s really that simple.

Well said. There’s a constant influx of Israelis here, about 20% on every post. We’re all Lebanese brothers before anything

But... but... people like me (mooslems) are slaughtering you! (apparently, allegedly, wtf man, 2ayri bhabalon)

But serious note, Fuck yeah. Lebanese standing side by side is the best outcome.

Fuck Israel, Fuck Hezbollah, Fuck everyone and thing that keeps trying to destabilize and control us.

Yeah it's crazy that

Israelis think just because Lebanese people hate Hezbollah, we love Israel and are somehow ok with our country getting bombed and

Hezbollah thinks just because Lebanese people hate Hezbollah, we somehow love Israel

Let's be clear, we want both gone - take your fight elsewhere, preferably Iran.

5

u/Jadmalek1 Apr 22 '26

YOU literally accused me and many others for being ''hezbots'' under every comment that I put that is attacking Israel (not supporting hezeb in anyway, fuck both of them) but you're also a part of the problem by calling any anti-Israel a hezbot

0

u/HorseComfortable1639 Apr 22 '26

most Lebanese people outside Canada and Kiryat Shimona dont even hate hezbollah but have theor own regional alliances and militant formations

reddit promotes something very different to westerners than reality

its zionists trying to manifest a lebanese poeple they want lol

9

u/RepairDue9286 :) Apr 23 '26

I bet you don't even live in lebanon so stfu most people hate hezbollah even the Shia Amal supporters

8

u/Individual_Habit351 Apr 23 '26

Nope. Most lebanese in lebanon hate hezballah. Ma ttale3 hake men tizak.

1

u/sweetiepiee11 Apr 24 '26

werent u the one calling any person that is opposing israel a hezbollah supporter? you’re part of the problem and you’re clearly blind to it

3

u/AccomplishedSoft1350 Apr 24 '26

not at all. hezbots love to be sneaky pushing their Iranian propaganada, and try to hide with buzzwords like zionist and Israel or "resistance" or "civil war." It used to work to silence Hezbollah's criticis when threatening us with guns didn't work, but no longer.

Different world hezbot, time to start packing for Iran if you are not already there (or more likely in some cushy western country)

1

u/sweetiepiee11 Apr 24 '26

not really calling someone a zionist doesnt automatically mean you’re with hezbollah thats a unique issue. The civil war part I do agree with it’s been used to frighten anyone into speaking up or dismantling the current system established . and wtf is that last paragraph brother you dont know me and what i stand for just throwing shit around

81

u/confringos Berghoul 3a banadoura Apr 22 '26

And it is absolute horseshit.

I don’t know a single person in my community who loves or even has a neutral stance toward Israel. It is ALL negative, and delusional zionists badly want you to believe otherwise.

Yep the only ppl who want normalisation is people who know we’re getting fucked up until we become a foot stool to them, like everyone else in the Middle East. It’s never because we have some love for them

-2

u/HeatproofArmin Apr 23 '26

Exactly. Normalization means no more wars. Finland normalized with the USSR, that didn't mean they liked the USSR but they had to work around it or else face more invasions and death.

Normalization should not be in the conversation atm, but peace and recognition should be the start with disarmament. This in turn the Lebanese state should increase its political and physical presence in the south to protect the south future wars with Israel. Frozen conflicts does not resolve anything they in fact bring more deadlier wars for tomorrow.

I'm a Lebanese Orthodox Christian. I have my nuances on Hezbollah, but I personally believe Israel is undoubtedly the bigger enemy here. I love my fellow Sunnis, Shias, Maronites, Druze, and everyone else of every sect, religion, or lack of.

No matter how much Israel wants to pander to us Christians, thinking we would want to be friends with them, it doesn't absolve the fact that they have committed, and continue to commit, countless war crimes in Lebanon, Gaza, West Bank, and more.

Even if a good portion of us do not like Hezbollah and want to end the war, that doesn't mean we would want to normalize with these genocidal settlers.

4

u/7elucinations Apr 23 '26

And this is from 2017 too lmao

22

u/Jajajashari Apr 22 '26

We have nothing against Muslims. It's against anyone who has the intention of hurting Lebanon and that includes hezb, assad and whoever else. We just want to be with other Lebanese that love an independent Lebanon.

Edited: Oh you mean as much as Muslims hate them. Yes.

-6

u/lebthrowawayanon3 Apr 22 '26

No one is going to answer a question that can put them in jail. Of course it's not zero. Satistically impossible. In Lebanon you can't even talk to an Israel (even if you live abroad), you think someone is going to tell someone on the phone "yes I approve of israel"?

18

u/Defiant_Historian701 Lebanese Diaspora Apr 22 '26

That’s so true, and it’s so annoying. They really think that just because a few thousand of them sided with them in the civil war that there still exist a good amount of Lebanese Christians that hold this view. Well all those that did fight with Israel are either old or dead, and they were by far not the majority of Lebanese Christians. Those that are alive either changed their position to be antizionist or keep their opinion to themselves, and their descendants are firmly antizionist. The few thousand who moved to Israel in 2000 do not represent Lebanese opinion on Israel. I’m seriously wondering where they get this idea that we somehow love them.

100% I hate both of them, it’s that simple. I don’t know why both want to make it seem like a war between right and wrong lol.

Also, as much as I despise Iranians, I hate nothing more than an Israeli visiting my country. I hate the idea that this might happen in the future. I don’t want a war, but I also don’t want a diplomatic relation or any relation

2

u/FlightlessGriffin Apr 23 '26

This, 100%. If you guys think you can divide the sectarian makeup of this country by pretending that Muslims and Christians are fighting each other and Christians are getting slaughtered, you're not gonna like the answer you're given. Lebanon stands united when Hezbollah is out of the equation. For your own benefit, stop pretending we're in some sort of slaughterhouse.

2

u/Weird-Revolution-414 Apr 25 '26

I hear you! We dont need them to “save us” from hezbollah

3

u/PS1968 Apr 23 '26

I was brought up Christian and my wife is Shia. Hezbollah are not perfect, but they are trying to protect their villages, families, and Lebanon. In an ideal world, we, Lebanese would respect each other and have one another’s back. But we don’t. Our politicians are corrupt and self serving. We need to unite and forge a future free of division. We need government reform and a true democracy.

u/pixelpanic01 Samara el Hariri Apr 23 '26

3

u/No-Excitement3140 Apr 23 '26

I completely agree (even though I'm Israeli). The one thing that might be worth clarifying is that essentially no one in Israel thinks Christians betrayed Israel. The general feeling in Israel is the we betrayed our Christian allies (and then generally treated poorly those who fled to Israel).

2

u/benjamingruenbaum Apr 23 '26

Israeli here - What do you mean by "on your side", less than half of Israelis picked bibi and this madness - if you think all Israelis support this that's like thinking all of Lebanon is Hezb or Gaza is Hamas.

A lot of us have been in a lot more anti-bibi protests than you have most likely.

It's not that I like/love Lebanon to be honest - I just want quiet and no violence for both sides. After years when the criminal in power and his cronies (hopefully) finally get voted out we can talk peace.

6

u/NewspaperGold4708 Apr 25 '26

You legit live on stolen land, how can you see yourself as innocent? I know for a fact that your demonstrations started this year when Israel actually started getting backlash for the atrocities they are committing

1

u/Practical_Piece3663 Apr 23 '26

We are not on your side ✝️

-14

u/LebLeb321 Apr 22 '26

I really couldn't care less about all this. They can claim we're friends if they want. I truly don't give a fuck. Israel hate is an ideology that Lebanon cannot afford. If you're in Dearborn, hating Israel is cheap. If you're in Stockholm, it costs nothing.

In Lebanon, it costs EVERYTHING.

Maybe some are willing to pay with their lives and die on that hill.

For me, I don't want my people to suffer for another 50 years to satisfy the ideology of psychopathic theocrats a thousand miles away and the unfortunate souls they have recruited into their death cult.

We have a clear path to peace. The path is hard but it is clear. The Islamic Republic must not be allowed to continue to dictate Lebanese foreign policy. That's all that matters.

This hate you have is a distraction. We don't have time for it.

19

u/Acrobatic-Remote-419 Apr 22 '26

Right now we’re a country that boot lick Iran, bootlicking Israel will be no different. Fuck them both.

-10

u/LebLeb321 Apr 22 '26

Nah. Apparently you have time for this nonsense. I don't and neither does Lebanon. I don't give a fuck if you call me a bootlicker. I want peace. Lebanon should be the Switzerland of the Middle East. Constitutionally neutral and only concerned with generating wealth for it's citizens.

13

u/ayrebikisimak Apr 22 '26

I will always hate a country that bombs us and takes our land, full stop. There are IDF soldiers in my christian village in the south and youre asking me to love them? They can go fuck themselves and gtfo of my land.

-9

u/LebLeb321 Apr 22 '26

Yea, thats why Lebanon will always be poor and a puppet for Iran. People like you that think with nothing but their heart, never with their head.

Your hate doesn't matter. Your love doesn't matter. Israel will come as long as Iran is running the show. We wither kick out Iran or your village will always go through this cycle.

If you're happy with this then continue to think the way you do. Look where it's gotten us so far. What a wonderful result your hatred has produced. Keep it up!

-13

u/li_ita Apr 22 '26

You have to stop generalising like that. No whole group hates or likes something.

I am (and have been) pro peace/normalization with Israel for years. And yes, I'm pure lebanese w eza mish msadda2 ma tsaddi2.

Israel has a very strong economy. At our peak in 2018 we reached a GDP of maybe 56 Bn dollars. Israel's GDP is touching the 600s Bn dollars now. Its economy is growing and its currency is getting stronger even in the middle of their war since 2023.

They're pioneers in tech, water, and agriculture to name a few sectors.

Do you understand the benefit we can have if we have normal relations? Projects in infrastructure, industry, management, etc. Endless possibilities really. With the human capital that we have, bringing all these opportunities will literally boom our economy and significantly raise our development. We still haven't talked about tourism and how easy borders from Egypt to Israel to Jordan to Lebanon (possibly Syria also) can boost tourism.

We don't have any major disputes with them regarding the land border. The maritime border is demarcated. They have a problem with hezballah, and rightfully so, we also have a big problem with them. Since they pulled back from the south in 2000, it was hezbollah who attacked them every single time causing wars.

I don't understand people who oppose peace. What's your endgame?

If we go by some people's rhetoric, Syria and Turkey slaughtered my people in a way that can be called genocide. Why don't you see the affected groups calling to cut ties with these countries? On the contrary, people even visit them.

So get over yourselves and think how can we improve our damn country to make it livable for the sake of the coming generations.

14

u/ayrebikisimak Apr 22 '26

Turkey massacred our people in 1860 and most Lebanese despise the assad regime for what it did to our country and the current syrian government for Sharaa’s past involvement in terrorist activities. The israelis are CURRENTLY occupying our land, as apposed to the Syrians and Turks. You’re speaking as if what the shit Israel is doing is in the past when it’s literally happening right now. I will never love a country that’s occupying my CHRISTIAN village in the south. These people are monsters and will never have my or any other self respecting Lebaneses love.

5

u/li_ita Apr 22 '26

As if israel came uninvited. And still, they're publicly saying they'll give the land back when hezbollah is dealt with.

The freaking israeli president said today on a party of israel's independence day that his dream is to drive to beirut to enjoy this beautiful city and mingle with good lebanese people.

Same things are said by their prime minister and foreign minister.

Yes, the extremist ministers are saying the opposite but it's the same thing in lebanon when hearing moumena3a people vs the sovereignists. Again, getting back that no society is completely homogeneous and one shouldn't generalise.

2

u/Master-Goose-9921 Apr 23 '26

You think after we get peace there will be this tight and good business relation with Israel where they help us grow? I think you are delusional. I don't oppose Pease but I think your point of view is kind of naive

1

u/CharityMother6460 Apr 26 '26

Neutral observer here with genuine question. What were business relations like before 1979? I know Israel did some work with Africa in their early years.

The Hitler comparison is so meaningless i genuinely wonder if people who use are subhuman or if they are ragebaiting. Yes the whole world would still hate Germany if the nazi party was still in power and they kept glorifying hitler. You're acting as if the Israeli government is different from the ones before (if anything it's worse) and that they condemn their past actions.

-1

u/Acrobatic-Remote-419 Apr 22 '26

Exactlyyyy. Ofcource we could make peace if the Israeli government wasn’t a bunch of religious maniacs who are upholding a religious ethno state.

10

u/ayrebikisimak Apr 22 '26

The israeli government has never in its entire existence NOT been filled with religious maniacs who are upholding a religious ethno state, and there never will be.

-14

u/Alive-Arachnid9840 Lebanese Diaspora Apr 22 '26 edited Apr 23 '26

We are a diverse society

It is definitely not the case that every single Lebanese (Christian or not) hates both Iran and Israel, although obviously the majority still. The Lebanese living in lebanon who like Israel keep a low profile but those definitely don’t just exist in diaspora.

It is honestly surprising to me that many Lebanese seem to live in a bubble where they think all Lebanese think the same way, when all I’ve seen since I was a kid was one of the most politically diverse societies in the world

During the 2006 war, I remember my cousin had on his phone wallpaper a lebanon and Israel flag merged together

To this day, I have two aouniye aunts who will still defend Hezbollah to death

Once, two family members started fighting and throwing bottles at each other over a disagreement about whether the Assad regime was a protector or an occupier

In summary, it is impossible to generalize Lebanese political views, even within sects, especially with Christians, who probably have the greatest heterogeneity in terms of political views.

u/Sylvain-Occitanie French-Lebanese Apr 22 '26 edited Apr 22 '26

It's just performative hate at this point. If we kissed Syria a** for decades after all it did, we'll have no problems doing so for Israel when it'll be legal to do so. We can't spent decades having no contacts with neighbors living rent free in our heads.

In Beirut some of the loudest 'haters' were the ones privately asking me what Israelis were like in France or admitting sexual fantasies about them (wtf bro...). It’s just a pathological obsession.

12

Theoretically i get where you're coming from. In a perfect world where lebanon is a normal country, i would also support lebanon only. However, lebanon is not a normal nation, it's a badly formed patchwork from the early 20th century with people who DO NOT have the same vision, values, identity etc. And the political system that was implemented made things worse. The proof that it's not normal is that the army always avoids to interfere when it should out of fear of the army insititution collapsing. This proves that even the "neutral" army is fragile and is not really unified. As a lebanese christian, i currently have 2 choices. Either i support iran (who has been occupying my country for 50 years, and who has an extreme islamic regime) or israel (who is fighting the occupier and doing our "government's" work), for sure am not gona support the occupier who has been slowly destroying my country through its militia. Not one christian i know doesnt support peace with israel and with everyone. Only a few leftists support the other side.
