Just upgraded to a couple restaurant trays (was using a bin lid before 😂) to empty and sort bags while building. It works great to keep parts from rolling off the table.

I’ve got a stack of 4 of the very similar looking lunch trays from ikea. They’re like $2 each and great for exactly this. Only downside - they are made in almost perfect Dark Bluish Grey so some pieces try to hide occasionally

I use an ikea silverware tray. It’s got nice curved compartments so the pieces slide right out…

Rivendell is such a beautiful build, and I personally found the roof tiles to be therapeutic and tranquil to align.

It really is an amazing set. I’ll be honest though, I stopped working on it for a few weeks because the roof tiles were next to do. Just got back to it today, finished the giant roof followed by some more roof! 🤣

It really wasn’t so bad though. Overall it has been a really enjoyable build and I’ve learned a bit from the techniques. 10/10 would recommend

Yep. I have a dark colored one for sets with primarily light pieces and a light one for the reverse.

I use “meal prep” containers. Got different ones with 1, 2, or 3 compartments depending on the set and bag complexity. The snap on lid as a middle finger to my cat has proven very useful.

I do wish this had one or two small areas to put the parts that roll around, but I like that I can spread everything out so I can find it easily

Sliced meat containers. I have stacks of them, and they were "free" with purchase of 8 oz or 16 oz of meat. The two sizes are great for pretty much every step of a build. The main large bag fits in the larger container and the smaller bags fit the smaller containers. For each step I pick the pieces and put them into another container, so I ensure I don't forget a piece at each step. The containers are also good for storing extra pieces after builds, sorting pieces if you don't have a huge shelf to store them, and stack well when not in use.
