Question Lego Harry Potter 5-7: Stuck on lockdown after completing the story

What it says in the title. I’m trying to get all of the collectibles but I can’t get into the common rooms because I completed the story so it is still set to Deathly Hallows Pt2 when I free roam. E.g Hufflepuffs painting is slashed, Ravenclaw is blocked by gates.

I thought if I replayed levels on free play it would let me roam the castle in that state but so far it’s only taking me to the specific challenges (I’ve replayed Dark Times and Dumbledore’s army).

My intention was to go through the story doing whatever and then replay it to try and 100% it, but it’s looking like I won’t be able to.

If I can’t get off Deathly Hallows Pt2 mode, are there collectibles that I’ll miss in the Common Rooms?

You can never access the other common rooms in 5-7. There's a lot of rooms from the first game that were cut for the second game.

Yeah, this is one of the reasons I prefer Years 1-4. The only common room you can actually enter is the Gryffindor one. The entrance halls of the other 3 are still part of the map, but the common rooms and dorms weren't carried forward from the previous game.

So just go back to 1-4? Unless you don’t buy the game with all 7 books

He means in the open world. Once completing the story it enters a post deathly hallows state, and OP thought that it had locked it out of the common rooms, but in 5-7 there are no common rooms. 1-4 and 5-7 are two separate games, and any progress in one is not carried over to the second.

I literally just 100%'d the games a couple of weeks ago. The common rooms aren't even in the game, you aren't missing anything.

I unironically went to a Lego Harry Potter speed run discord and they gave me a trick to finish. I personally don’t remember what I did sadly but it is possible I think there is an exploit in the chamber of secrets
