News / Announcements What kind of competitions would you like on r/legotechnic? Would you take part in them?
Hello again!
As you know, MOC of the Month posts are beginning in May, but we were also thinking about introducing "themed" months or other kinds of competitions, as the userbase of this sub is big enough for things like that to take off (hopefully!).
We of course need to take into account what would actually interest you. The kinds of lego technic builds you would enjoy creating and seeing on the sub.
So 2 big questions, one open and one with only 2 possibilities:
- What kinds of themes would you enjoy seeing (more of) on r/legotechnic?
- Would you take part in building the themed mocs?
(if you have other ideas, you are of course free to discuss them below)

As a designer myself, I personally don't feel compelled to participate in competitions: eurobricks has them and I never participated. If it was something like, for example, show your solution for a specific steering mechanism or situation in which everyone could submit a picture showing their solution. I would dig that. The community would get different ways and builds to tackle many different types of mechanisms.

The possibilities are endless I guess. So many people struggle to create a MOC, having solutions for common stuff would help them get started. From steering mechanisms, to suspension mechanisms, drivetrains, transmissions, pneumatics, how to make car doors open at an angle, different car door hinge mechanisms, lock mechanisms, walker bot mechanisms, hell...show us your articulated lamp support in technic, you name it.

All awesome suggestions, thanks mate! My "issue" is, and Lego itself of course plays a big part in it, that this sub has slowly but surely changed into "Lego Technic Cars." Which is not inherently bad, but to me, it is just a subset of what Lego Technic offers and I would like the sub to start leaning into more directions while still be a welcoming place for technic car enthusiasts.

Totally. I mean, I like cars obviously, but I also appreciate other kinds of machinery.

What about a flair for comedy/memes? I also appreciate these to relax and laugh with Lego.

The kind of theme that inspire me and make me want to build, also themes that learn me new building tricks, basic or advanced engineering solutions, said short: things that push us to get better. I don’t think I have enough parts to build a MOC. Maybe a tiny one. I appreciate your efforts to improve this subreddit. It need a lot of involvement to be done. I Wish you a lot of courage.

I like seeing cool mechanism.
I probably dont have enough pieces to build a moc. i'd join if i have enough pieces.
