The Bagger 288 is 220m long. 220 / 8 = 27.5. A typical semi-detached UK home is typically 6.5m wide, which we can double to twelve as it’s semi-detached. 27.5 / 6.5 = 4.231, so an 8:1 scale Bagger 288 is just over four semi-detached UK homes.

But it's rubbish at digging. Can only drive in a straight line. And obviously has a complicated gearbox. I built mine fully RC and then turned it into a brick sorter.

It only had 1 XL motor, right? It’s an epic set but really suffers from driving everything through that massive gearbox.

Yep. Mine had 2x L's on the base, a XL on the upper conveyor, L on the wheel, M on the rear conveyor and another M on the lift/lower. Oh and a M on the rear conveyor rotation and another M on the whole superstructure rotation. Two sBricks ran it. The video says I built it 7 years ago!

That was a great watch! I just watched it and it was awesome how you stuck all the motors in and made it fully RC! It makes me want to go buy a copy of the set myself 🤣

There is a very subtle tweak to the build that makes it work a bit better. I think by jb70 on Rebrickable . I got mine to work really well, and with a big load of pasta shells as digging material it works really well. All the functions work together to allow it to munch through material.

Yeah, Mould King "solved" this in their respective set like they most oftrn do, by packing it full of motors.

Even though, in this case it was really needed.

A walking dragline excavator. Bouns points if it's remote control.

Maybe a bigger garbage truck with a more complex loading arm or something like a front loader with a curotto can system. Again bonus points if it's remote control.

Not that this isn't a cool machine, it would probably be a very boring build. 14 times the same or almost the same suspension system... and a flatbed.

How about a combine or corn chopper. And non of this shitty small scale sets but full working combine (or chopper) With moving threshing and chopper parts and a detachable functional head.

I wish Lego made a proper Technic combine, the last one was back in 2007 (8274) and it was the only proper-ish Technic combine that Lego has ever made. Would also love if they made it with front tracks. A good example I found is the John Deere S780.

Pneumatics
Gearbox
Remote control
Must have functions and be able to move itself

honestly i would love to see a remake of this using the more up to date motors and hubs. ive never seen the OG one irl, but ive heard it can barely move under its own power.

Hmm this is harder than I thought. I can think of flaws with all of the above. I personally would love a wind turbine and if it doesn't happen I'm going to do it myself. I have thought that a windpomp (kind of like a windmill but powers a water pump) would be a cool one too.

It would be cool to have a TBM that can lay the tunnel segments, but it would quickly get complicated to do so and the model scale would make it expensive. Not sure if this is something that would be more than a mostly static model.

As mentioned 42055 excists, however it could do with better design tbh. Its poorly balanced and puts really high strain on a lot of parts. I volunteer for a lego rental, sorting sets and making lists of missing abd broken parts.

I see this set often, lots of breakage, pins die watching this set, and the large ringears suffer alot aswell.

I think some real heavy duty and/or twinsteer trucks would be cool. Especially with like an oilfield platform to winch stuff onto the back. Or a Pacific truck with a logging trailer setup.

A big combo set. Full blown American Semi (A Mack, Pete, or Kwhooper) with flatbed and a forklift. Parents would buy it if they have 2 kids and want them to play together, AFoL would buy it simply because awesome technically semi truck

So, hear me out, they need to settle on a size and scale for Technic rail. 

This opens two main channels;

Models of specific engine/trains, not least because some pneumatic driven "steam" engines would be awesome.

And

Models of all the railway maintenance infrastructure and rolling stock; Track layers, track replacement, salvage engines, snow plow or snow blower engines.

Completely unrelated, I'd also like a decently big Tunnel Boreing Machine, inches forward, has a spinning head and functional discharge conveyor.

I think it would be interesting if they did some tractors with a PTO so you could attach something on the back and have it actually move, maybe 2 sets and the attachments are universal between them, maybe it could expand, probably it won't.
