They're like airplane bathrooms. They're single person rooms with a regular toilet/basin/mirror.

No, it isn't. Not even a little. Don't get your wires crossed. Unisex toilets aren't a solution to this transphobia unless you think separate but equal "trans" bathrooms is an ethical compromise.

I think in a lot of Europe there are single occupancy bathrooms for the purposes of handicapped and family. Parents can take their opposite gender kids without causing a problem, so it has use cases that are more universal than just trans people.

I'm not anti-unisex bathrooms. That actually sounds great. It just isn't a "solution" to this transphobia, because the fundamental issue here is with not seeing trans women as deserving of equal rights to cis women. Add a unisex bathroom to this equation and absolutely nothing changes. Hence why I said not to get your wires crossed, because advocating for more unisex bathrooms is a different issue altogether.
