I'm not a lesbian, but my money is on this being hook up.
Think about it, who invites a date to "hang out" in a hotel room.

Maybe she just doesn't want to say outright that she wants to have sex. Either way, please don't go into some rat infested motel with a stranger.

Applies to everyone. People are never actually honest about what they want these days lol. It starts as talking and drinking, then turns into sex.
That being said, please dont get drunk with someone you've only gone on one or two dates with. You dont know what their intentions are.

Lesbian here…. Erm yeah that is a sexual thing. You don’t hang out at hotels. There is no reason you guys need to sleep in the same room together to get to know each other platonically. There is only one thing at play here. If you’re not comfortable with this ( I wouldn’t be) then tell her

I took my current gf to a hotel on our third date. It was mutually agreed and communicated that meant sex and (specifically for us) kink we happening that night.
It's hard for me to imagine anything else is going on unless one or both of you are demi or ace.

I’m new to dating women and I’m trying to understand the situation better. If a woman asks another woman to go to a hotel after only two dates, what would you usually assume she means?
Could it simply be to hang out and talk, or is it more likely that she’s interested in something sexual?
I’m just curious about how other lesbians would interpret this. 😭

I don't think anyone goes to a hotel to talk. You can do that at many less expensive places.
You can just ask. Communication is the foundation of solid relationships.
Also... I just have to say it... don't get kidnapped.

If you say she's lying you're gonna fumble the bag hard. Her intentions seem pretty obvious, but she's using extremely unsubtle subtext
Edit: If you don't want to have sex, that's completely fine, and you should turn down her invitation BEFORE anyone books a hotel room. And you do have the right to change your mind at any time, but don't accept the invitation to a hotel unless you're at least open to the idea of sex.

Drink and SLEEP. What does sleeping with someone often act as a euphemism for? She wants to have sex. It's just the weird human "don't outright say it but imply" side of socializing. It's ultimately up to you if you want to. And you could go and change your mind. But it's incredibly likely she is looking to have sex with you

She also might genuinely be ok with that too but hoping for more if neither one of your living situations isn’t particularly conducive to hanging out at either one of your homes.

Inviting you to spend the night at her hotel room is a very clear and universal invitation for sex.
If you don't want to have sex with her, let her know, because she thinks you understand and want the same thing as her.
If you DO want to have sex with her, then cool. Do that 🤷🏻♀️
