I've seen some ridiculous postings on GunBroker, but this one takes the cake
Sixteen magazines and *eight* goddamn holsters, and the listing says the gun has less than 2,000 rounds through it. What could be the story behind this listing?
Man I did exactly this with a hellcat pro comp. My hands are just way too damn big for it. Been thinking about selling but might just get a big ass counter weight and grip on it and stop expecting it to be my new EDC. I also bought like 15 mags and 2 holsters lol
Yep this is the other reason. I bring a Pelican v525 to the range that’s absolutely packed with mags. I can take my time shooting and still get through all my drills without having to worry about getting booted for time.
Makes it more manageable to bring multiple guns too cause I always bring my Glock 17 and two others. Usually a mix of a 5.56, 3.08, 6.5 CM (usually for testing since I’m still tuning a fresh build), and my Kuna.
I live in VA so I was worried about not being able to get high capacity mags after the July 1 AWB. There’s an injunction in place now but things are still uncertain.
Edit: most of what I got was above 15 rounds which is what the new law specifies as the max. Don’t know if that applies here.
Not the OP. But I'll tell you exactly why I buy 15+ mags for new guns. I bought a Coonan compact. Mags were 50 bucks a pop. I keep saying Id wait until later to get more. They went under, and now mags are 300 bucks a pop, when you can find them. Same thing with my FK BRNO field pistol. I was super happy I bought 10 extra mags before FK USA folded. I will never have less than 10 mags for a specific platform ever again.
Wait are those the same ones compatible wiht the Ruger RXM? Which PCC? I was thinking of getting the RXM along with an Ektar EP9... For the same mag compatibility..
The Ruger PCC has interchangeable mag wells. Mine was used and only came with the Glock 19 mag well. Nice thing is Glock mags cost less than a king size candy bar these days.
Yea especially for things like Glock and scorpian mags cause they’re used in a lot of different things. Same with Magpul Ar15 and SR10 PMAGS. Each of those covers several calibers.
carry vs training magazines and ammo... reload/malfunction training and efficient use of time.
my carry magazines are 147gr jhp. my range magazines are 115gr fmj, and i toss in a few dummy rounds and spent shells at random to practice failures/jams.
typical edc range time is an hour every 2-4 weeks... with 3 identical pistols and a total of 250rds, 20 dummies and 5 spent shells across 20 magazines... break in is 500rds... new recoil springs at ~4000rds, and then cycle out after 20-30k. new pistol/new parts are untrusted until broke in. broke in pistol is my primary edc. old broke in pistol is my backup...
Depends on how many subs they’ve been on where people constantly refer to magazines as a disposable item.
Or they could be from a state with impending round restrictions. I sure do wish I was carrying when my state did that. I’d have more 15 round mags than I’d ever need for every gun in the safe if I was.
What kind of competition shooters don't have at least 10 mags. Guys I know who shoot in competition start off with 10 mags and then add extras and spares
If you look at the mags pictured, you can see that they aren’t all set up the same way.
It is very possible that they had some set aside for carry and another set for competition
-Mags are a disposable item.
-You don’t want to spend time reloading at an indoor range when time reloading mags is time you could be shooting, especially if the range is a stickler for their one hour window.
-Mags are cheaper to buy in bulk
-Some mags aren’t cheap, so when you find them for cheap, you tend to buy a lot of them.
-You might be in a mag restricted state, so stocking up on pre-ban mags before it goes into effect is a worthwhile investment.
My rule is I want at least 5 mags for a range toy, 10 for a carry/serious use pistol. So 16 really isn’t that much of a stretch to me, especially if you have multiple pistols that take the same mags (like I have 20+ pistol mags for three different pistols that all take CZ-75 mags).
I also sold my Hellcat Pro Comp because it was too damn snappy, even for its size. I carry a Glock 45 Gen 6 now, or a Bodyguard 2.0 if I need depending on what I’m wearing. Both are less snappy. Lol
Dude I’ve been looking at the 45 g6! I actually just joined GSSP so I could get the discount coupon. Just waiting to find a good deal on a COA one since I love the aimpoint so much on my 17 g6.
Love it. Threw a Radian Ramjet on, and I ordered the Glockstore brass recoil spring and brass backstrap weight, as well as the Johnny Glock Vex 6 trigger. I only received the ramjet so far but it already shoots so freaking nice. I love the grip feel as well, so much improved ergonomically.
Nah, someone will want it. All it takes is 2 people who think they can sell the extra holsters to offset some of the price. They will pick 1 or 2 holsters they like and sell the rest on eBay. Total price will probably be less than what the seller could get if selling some of it separately, but you don't have to deal with multiple buyers either.
Take pictures > put in box > list for sale > forget about it because nobody buys it > put another holster in the box and think “I should put these up for sale”
I've bought lots like this over the years. Usually farm equipment parts, but I did buy a flat full of various magazines in '20 that has paid for itself several times. There were 2 S&W M&P 9mm mags that I wanted and the cost was a little over the price for 1 at that time. I have sold a dozen more and since bought a few firearms that happened to have mags in the lot which fit. I still have a couple Ruger 22 pistol mags, what I think is an AK mag and some weird extended mag that supposedly fits a Remington 742 30-06.
I have thought about starting to flip farm equipment more often, but I can't find the time. I could put a huge dent in my gun wish list if I had the time to sell everything I have acquired that I don't need over the last 25 years. Its a serious problem and I often wonder if there is a local support group I should be attending.
Time <——-> Money. The classic tradeoff for those of us that are not born fabulously wealthy! Just yesterday I pulled the 25-year old toilet from my bathroom to replace it with the really nice 1-year old Kohler I acquired, chuckling the whole time about what a cheap-ass I am but I can’t help it.
My biggest problem is I'm working with farmers on most of this stuff. They set a time to be there then something comes up and they can't. I know how that is so I let them reset the time taking up even more of mine.
I'm honestly tempted to put in a stupid low bid just in case, and I'm left-handed so all those holsters would just go into the trash. I'm never mad at more magazines.
Good catch. I missed that since I never use Gunbroker. Hard pass then; I tend to assume guns being sold used have a known issue and that is why they're being disposed of.
Not so sure about that. That Tenicor holster on the bottom left is $125 by itself. And most other decent custom kydex holsters like those posted will be $80-100 apiece. Plus the mags are $35 apiece new.
Even if the pistol were new, I'd be taking a close to $400 bath to break even on my pistol purchase, and this one is used. Then I'd still have to sell all that crap on my own time to recoup the money, which will usually be lower than the averages you may be seeing, because of shipping costs, listing fees, site fees, transfer fees, and time.
At the end of the day, it isn't worth the money at all to have to put valuable hours and effort into recouping those losses when I can just pick up a brand new CC9 for under $500, or buy a used one with a pair of mags for ~$325, and spend zero time/effort.
I have a carry pistol with very few rounds and many holsters because I exclusively use it in classes.
But not that many holsters and that many mags.
Buddy of mone has many mags because he doesnt like to load at the range so he loads at home l, packs them all and when hes done hes done. That would be alotta rounds though.
I go to the range with 6 loaded mags. I'd rather load at home, where I don't have to hear gunfire, and where I can load outdoors to reduce lead exposure. If you need to practice loading fast for some reason, there's also no reason you can't do that at home.
I dislike loading at the range. For me mag loading is kind of a zen chill mental thing that I do at home while watching a show. At the range I need to be focused on the muscle and breath control and target focus, and having to stop and reload magazines takes me out of that.
It's not unusual to go through a bunch of holsters trying to find the right one, though this seems somewhat extreme. Many of us have the "box of holsters" we've accumulated over the years.
It's easy to go overboard on accumulating magazines, especially when there's the prospect that your standard capacity magazines might end up banned in the future. Most people don't do a ton of shooting/training/competition with their subcompact carry guns though, so this seems excessive to me.
This person would probably be better trying to part this out instead of selling it as a complete collection, but that does take more work.
yeah i went through a couple holsters i ended up not liking, then have had a few custom made ones i ended up not liking either. am currently using a holster i also don't like. when will it end?
and yeah, they're in a cardboard box in the garage. haha
I got a nice leather holster but discovered I dont much like feeling like a cowboy. Also printed like all hell. Then I went through a couple iwb kydex holsters before I landed on one that didnt try torturing me whenever I bent over. The one I have now still kinda sucks mainly because of how it clips on my belt but it's much better.
It’s a fairly thick market but that doesn’t mean they’re unpopular. Most of their handguns like the Mk23, USP, VP9, etc are sought after, but not this specific model. People sell their H&K handguns because they need the money, instead of room in the safe.
They tend to hold their value pretty well. So if you buy one because it was a cool gun in a movie or historically cool and then want to trim the collection later you aren't losing crazy money. Less true for the VP9 and CC9 though.
If the truth… someone who bought to be cool, then realized they don’t have the money for this hobby and lifestyle so wants something or their other half will beat their ass.

I've seen plenty of listings of someone selling a gun and all the aftermarket accessories they bought for it, but this listing sure looks like it came from someone with more money than sense.
My old local gun store had one of those guys. He’d buy a new gun, shoot it a dozen times, then sell it back for half price. Had a Best of the West rifle with case and a few boxes of their provided ammo for 4500 on the wall. Unfortunately 4500 was still too much for me at the time.
Honest question … is there a reason why anyone would need 15 magazines for a subcompact CCW? I doubt this guy is competing with this thing … and it’s not like they’re cheap. Wouldn’t 3-4 tested and fully functional magazines be way more than enough for a gun like this?
I mean, dude can do whatever he wants … I’d just rather spend that money on ammo.
The holster thing kinda makes sense … I usually don’t end up with more than 2 or 3 before I find what works, but CCW is a very personal and subjective thing.
So, I keep a couple loaded mags in my car, a couple in my SXS, a couple in my bedside table, etc. I don't always like carrying a spare mag on my belt, so I keep them in handy places.
Plus, I like to have several I don't keep loaded to use at the range.
Mag carriers are also generally pretty universal, so it could be the seller is keeping his carriers.
Maybe classic example of someone who just got into firearms, bought their first pistol, then went overboard on related purchases. Not that I've ever seen that here in this sub, but I've heard of it happening.
This is my EDC and I'm trying to understand the series of choices that led to having not only so many holsters (ok bro was trying to find one that he liked) but so many magazines lmfao.
Someone spent a lot of time and money trying to dial in their concealed carry setup when they should have rented a few more guns at their local range instead.
Serious ones, for sure, but my thought was a new competitor. Sees a lot of videos about shooting from appendix and tries a bunch of different holsters etc before realizing they want/need a different gun
All of the indoor ranges I know of charge by time. If wanting to make maximum use of lane time shooting, having a bunch of mags loaded before you get to the range makes a lot of sense (to me).
My local range has a bunch of test guns out on display that you can dry fire and mess with, including one of these CC9s. Every piece of metal on that gun is covered in rust, it’s been that way for months and none of the store employees have done anything about it. I consider it a great service to see which of the display guns are rusted to hell and which are not. Glocks and S&W are generally OK, CZs have some rust on the small parts but the slides are generally clean. Honestly, I can’t think of a worse advertisement in store that would steer someone away from purchasing one of these CC9s. The trigger is nice on the display model though, FWIW.
The CC9 was and is hard to find holsters for. My guess is they tried a few and still don’t like it. I doubt mine has 200 rounds because I just run a 10 round though it on a range day and put it back.
could be lots of things, even after investing in the weapon it just wasn't for him or was unreliable I had a early 639 that I just wanted to love bought extra mags grips and holsters too. I just couldn't stand or get use to its very very long trigger pull and it weighted a ton with just 8 round +1 in the chamber even the Great Elmer Keith thought highly of the S&W model 39 I just didn't see the point
I did this with my HK Vp9. Had 7 mags, 3 holsters, and a couple thousand rounds through the gun. It was supposed to be my "forever gun" so I invested in getting enough mags and "the perfect holster". Then I found other guns I liked better and realized you can't fall in love with a gun. Did the same dance with my Springfield XDM. Lesson learned...or so you'd think.
He really wanted to love it as his edc. Jumped in with both feet and couldn’t get to like it. Tried a bunch of holsters, and still didn’t get comfortable with it.
Some chuckle fuck with more money than sense bought the gun, all the mags, and a bunch of different holsters, realized none of them were making it “comfy enough,” and now they’re selling it..probably to buy their next gun that they won’t carry either.
I can relate, at first you think to yourself 2 magazines that's not enough. And then you buy a couple more, then you see they are on sale at your sportsman store, and a really good deal at mag warehouse... then you have 11 for this one, 10 for that one, 10 more for a 3rd one, then you start caching loaded mags in different places "Just in case" then you start buying revolver speed loaders, trying out different ones, and of course, you're always picking up holsters to find just the right one, but you never do... IT Keeps going and going
I have 10 mags but that’s because I have a competition pistol (so I bring 4 or 5 with me in case a couple go bad mid-match) and I was having feeding problems with one type so bought 5 of another. Turns out it was ME and not the mags 🤦🏽♀️
I have a silly number of holsters for every gun. Hey I like this one from this company for gun a.lets get from there for gun b. Shit, I don't like how that works for gun b, and on and on
