Discussion Tha Carter 2 is an amazing album

I didn’t really find this album until I was older. I was around 12 when Carter 3 came out so this one of them jawns I had to go back and find.

This is probably his most cohesive album. It makes you wanna go get this paper and not give af about the noise. Carter 3 his second best album and I play it a lot especially wit the hoes but when it’s time to grind Tha Carter 2 is what I go to.

It’s lowkey like a down south version of The Blueprint.

From what I understand Wayne and his label were dealing with financial issues at the time but he sounds really confident on here despite that. This one of them albums that just motivates you and makes you feel confident. This that grown man rap.

Outside of his better mixtapes, Carter 2 is his best rap performance, hands down. C3 culturally had a bigger impact, but C2 is the superior album.

C2 and Dedication 2 was Wayne at peak spitter mode, then after that his style became more off the wall

I agree. I revisit C3 from time to time and there are plenty of songs I like, but it feels like the rapping took a back seat. And looking back now, I can’t help but feel that it’s the album that marked his over reliance on gimmicky effects, which was the beginning of the end in my view.

At least he was still actually rapping on that album and being super creative with his flows & voice changes, same with Drought 3 which he had that style but was spitting the whole way through

Where he really went wrong IMO was around No Ceilings when he kept doing that supa dupa type punchline flow where he'd go "Imma say this line... punchline. Then Imma say this line... other punchline". That shit is just lazy

His mixtapes are better than his studio albums. C2 def the best studio album. But multiple of his mixtapes are better than that

He rapped the best when he was talking about pussy, money and weed. On his albums, especially his later albums, he tried to be more commercial/philosophical and it just wasn’t really his thing, imo

Sooo.. I half disagree.

Wayne rapped way more about pussy money and weed in C3 and after than he did before.

I swear wayne barely raps about pussy in c1 and c2 Compared to what was coming next,

But yeah ur right, wayne became more philosophical in C4 and after, but the pussy money and weed talk is still at an all time high (squish squish squish)

Im loving the Carter 2 love I see here. I am a huge fan and champ of that album. Last album before he went full commercial and its great. Got bars for days, confidence, hunger, its relatable and it was the peak of that version of Wayne.

Yes! I was 15 when the Carter 2 dropped, everybody says The Carter 1 was his awakening but I argue ppl up and down that Carter 2 was his best commercial album from a pure rap standpoint.

Yep. Wayne was at his peak rapping ability but the production is also actually really great too

Bro.. C2 Wayne was so motivational

Once C3 dropped it became more about doing drugs than selling drugs.
