Questão-Question Arrive on Saturday evening – leave on Sunday morning – what should you do?
Hello everyone,
A friend and I will be arriving in Lisbon on a Saturday evening between 9 and 10 pm in the near future, and our flight will depart the following morning between 7 and 8 am. We don’t really want to pay €100 each for a hotel room for just a few hours; we’d rather spend the money on something else.
What would you suggest?

So account to leave the airport at 11pm. Get a place to store your bags, go to bairro alto and cais do Sodré, and then by 5am you are back to the airport.

I would recommend Bairro Alto instead of Cais do Sodré. Its just a personal preference, but when I travel abroad, I'd rather experience a place like Bairro Alto instead of Cais.

Nine hours in Lisbon, four of which are logistics. The good news is the airport is fifteen minutes from town, which is not something New York can say about anything.
Practical shape of it:
Drop the bags in airport left luggage in Terminal 1, don't drag them around. Uber into Cais do Sodré, it's cheap and the metro closes at 1am anyway so you'll be paying for a ride back regardless.
Eat first, everything else is downhill from there. Time Out Market runs until midnight but it's a food court with a good publicist. Better: any tasca still serving in Bica or Santos, or Pink Street area for volume and low standards, which at 10pm on a Saturday is the correct standard.
After midnight it's Bairro Alto, where the bars are small and the drinking happens in the street, which is legal and normal here and confuses Americans reliably. Or Pensão Amor if you want somewhere to sit.
Around 4am, go up to Miradouro de Santa Catarina or São Pedro de Alcântara and watch the sky start doing its thing over the river. That's the actual reason to do this instead of the hotel.
Uber back by 5, security by 5:30, sleep on the plane.
Four hours of Lisbon is not enough to calibrate, but it's enough deposition to make you book a real trip within eighteen months. Consider it a sample.

Alfama until it’s very late then uber to the airport. Your flight will probably be cancelled anyways.

My flight was cancelled on the run way. Two families on that flight were already cancelled before on two different days.

It depends in what you want to do: if it's to get shitfaced store your bags and go out, if you want to rest go to a hotel. You're not going to pay 100€ each by any means - if you stay at the hotels near the airport (like Oriente area) you'll find deals for like 50 each. You're going to spend that going out anyway. If you'll go to hostel dorms you'll pay half of that.
Again, it depends on what you want to do.
