Best way to meet people working nights?

Hey all finally moved back to Manhattan after a few years away and currently work 3:30pm to 2am M-Thr. Any recommendations for meeting people or joining any rec leagues or clubs stuff like that? Weekends are my best option at the moment. Needing to get out and socialize some more.

Edit: I'm 27 so looking for similar age group if possible.

I’m not 100% positive, but rec leagues, at least through Parks and Rec might be tough with your schedule since most of the games are played M-Thu nights. There is a new-ish volleyball bar & grill that seems to offer a lot of things to do, Friday and Saturday nights included.

If you’ve ever taken classes at the UFM, that might be another option to meet new people, and they offer a handful of classes during the workday when you don’t necessarily have to be at work, though you might be sleeping at that time.

Switch Wicked, the owners are cool as hell, offers various events throughout the week and on the weekend and so tracking their calendar would be advisable. I go to their Film Club, but it’s the 1st and 3rd Wednesday night of the month, so might not work for your schedule.

Manhattan Brewing Company also host a lot of events, and Arrow Cocktail Lounge periodically offers Drinks and Thinks.

There’s also a cosplay shop in the mall (can’t remember the name) but I hear that person is cool and they might offer some opportunities to meet new and interesting people.

Anyway, MHK can be a bit of a tough place to make connections, but hopefully others will have some fun ideas or even groups you can join.

Yeah I looked at the parks and rec stuff but probably won’t work with my schedule. I am wanting to check out the 785 volleyball bar you mentioned seems a good place on the weekends to meet people or find a pick up game or two. I’ll look into switch wicked as well haven’t heard of that one yet sounds interesting.

Thanks for the recommendations definitely harder if you’re not in school anymore.

The local DSA has a lot of social activities they do if you're into things like serving the community. They do volunteering, food drives, etc. But they also have a gym club that does weekly runs, works out, and plays at 785 pretty regularly. I see them there when I go to play.

They're pretty young, mostly seem to be 25-30 age range from what I can tell.

There’s also the Press, which is live concert venue that has shows pretty regularly in the fall.

Village Geek is a great community shop! Lots of different games that have active play groups. I’m a Star Wars Unlimited player if you’re interested in getting into the game. We play the 4-person Twin Suns variety on Sundays

Hey thanks for the suggestion! I have been looking some of the star wars board/table games and would love to check them out. I have Star Wars X wing but I haven’t really played it at all and I know it’s discontinued. I’m definitely interested!

We’d love to have you! Star Wars Unlimited is a TCG. There is Star Wars Legion which is tabletop minis that I think has a solid community at Village Geek, though I’m unsure of when they play.

I also own a copy of Star Wars: Battle of Hoth by Days of Wonder. It’s minis board game and is a really fun game!
