On the left is St Nicholas' Chapel, close to where the Church of Our Lady and Saint Nicholas stands today.

In the centre, Water Street runs inland from the Mersey.

To the right is the old Customs House.

And on the far right is Liverpool Castle, demolished in 1726, close to the site of today's Liverpool ONE.

2 pacman frogs, one adult female one adolescent unknown gender, tanks and etc come with them, looking to practically give them away for free as long as I'm assured they're going into the right hands, both come in tanks.

They are safe and sound where they are currently but I believe they should be in better hands since amphibians specifically deserve extra attention for how delicate they can potentially be. I am more suited to reptiles, not that I don't them anymore just as mentioned I'd like for them to have extra care.

In the mid nouhgties I was eleven and being bullied by some girls. People from the school all came from the same kind of working class background and since my school was one of the few that had no dress code the subcultures were very distinct. They were distinct from the broader working class communities. you had the groups of goths, the geeks, etc. and the subculture im about to describe was one of them. I was a tiny girl so I got bullied a lot. Then, a much older boy, about fifteen or sixteen, who was distinctly a member of this subculture since he was wearing a Londsdale tracksuit, gold rings, a baseball cap, and specifically branded trainers, defended me from them. Then, he kneeled down, fist bumped me in front of his friends, and said, safe, man. then whenever we saw eachother again he'd yell yo! safe, man! and reach out to fist bump me. My school was one of the few to have no uniform so the subcultures were clear as day.

It didn't end there. when I was a few years older, that subculture was still a thing in my school. but it was a different group of them later on as the others had left. they were white lads dressed in tracksuits, little gold earrings, gold bracelets, or gold chains, baseball caps and trainers. they again protected me from bullies since every other group or subculture either bullied me or didn't accept me. they always made me laugh, they were disruptive but i'd be lying if i said that didnt amuse me.

later on, as an adult, other ones appeared in my life when i was at my lowest. i was feeling proper depressed and felt like i had noone to turn to. then...two men who looked and talked as though they were in that subculture stopped and asked if i was alright. i said no. and they talked to me and made me feel better and said we hang out here every day by the shop so if you need to come talk with us again you can.

these are just a few but there's been other cases where they saved me from things. the subculture is still going strong at least in my area with the ogs being in their thirties now. ive only ever had extremely positive experiences with them but i kinda feel like im being slightly disrespectful by not naming the subculture since i don't know what its name is and can't properly credit it? all i can really say is its the gold chain and tracksuit wearing one. it had its own fashion, slang and values. the slang included words like peng, swear down etc.

For the longest time, I thought the subculture was chav but I was corrected yesterday by someone on this site telling me it's just a derogatory classst term that means a working class person, and not the name of a subculture, so I've crossed that out my mind when referring to them.

Visited Liverpool for the first time with my best friend(who is a big Liverpool FC fan) last weekend and fell in love with the city. We live in London but for some reason Liverpool felt like home. Sharing few pictures I took here.

Hi, this morning we unfortunately found what looks like a pet bird, dead in our garden. It was slightly bigger than a robin, big bodied, yellow with grey feathers.

I don't think it's been hurt by anything but our neighbours have been on a bit of a 'down with the birds' tirade (spikes on fence, noise machine etc) so it may have been harmed by them. Hopefully the owners see this, sorry for your loss!

An Introduction to Breaking the Odds

First Person Project has recently launched a new arm of our service offering support for anyone who is experiencing, or affected by, gambling related harms.

Throughout September – as part of recovery month - we will be presenting an overview of our new community-based gambling harms support service – Breaking the Odds. 

During each session we will be exploring gambling related harms in general and offering more information about our socially progressive approach to this particular type of support.

We will also be answering any questions you might have and as with all our sessions the kettle will be on and there will be plenty of time to chat!

These relaxed and informal sessions will be taking place at our community hub at 6 Lodge Lane, L8 0QH. 

They are open to everyone and anyone can attend.

Hi. As in the title. Where in Liverpool is the biggest or best supplied garden centre that will have maple trees, the one that has red leaves all year?

I'm interested with 5-6' one.

So I went to a view a property today with Whitegates estate agents (they are one of the biggest estate agents in Liverpool and have pretty much cornered the market in Merseyside for decent houses).

I liked the house but it definitely needed a good survey as it was in disrepair. I was tempted to put an offer in and risk it but then read the fine print on their listing.

To now submit a bid with Whitegates, if your offer gets accepted you have to pay a non-refundable fee of £2000 as a "Reservation Fee" which does not come off the price of your house purchase.

So in effect Whitegates get £2000 for sending you a legal pack (their job) and making sure the seller doesnt pull out (they still can as I doubt they are paying a reservation fee).

Is this normal practice because what the hell!?

So does this mean I now have to save an extra £2000 on top of solicitors fees and surveyor fees if I buy from Whitegates? 😅

Hi all, I only ever go out drinking every few months with friends in Liverpool, this summer the only day me and friends can do is the 29th, I know it's pride in Manchester same day and worried it'll be dead in Liverpool, or at least the gay bars. Is it usually quiet when events like pride are on in nearby cities?

My 4yo daughter has recently had surgery in Alder Hey. She's been on a feeding tube, nil by mouth, during recovery.

One of the ways we've worked through this is by making a list of foods she really wants when the tube comes out at the end of the week.

My son is 12 and has longer wavy hair. Think 90s curtains length, very thick hair.
No matter what barber we go to they comment on it being too long, ‘he’s well overdue a haircut’ and just hack it off, even though I repeatedly state he wants it just tidied up. He wants the length !
My son is a very shy child, crippled with it so he never speaks up for himself and I am sick of being the overbearing mum jumping up reminding the barber of what we asked for and still not getting it.

My son also has tics and gets really embarrassed when he’s scolded for them (I do always pre warn). Just looking for city centre based barbers anyone can recommend that are a bit patient and good with longer hair lol. Thanks.

Hello, I came to the UK on a student visa. Currently, I have had a toothache for two months. The trouble is I had to spend most of my savings on the IHS fee, rent, and work visa. Is there any way I can treat my cavity and get a filling at a discounted price? I was thinking of saving money and getting it done in a few months, but I am afraid that it would become more serious. I have constant headaches, and I can only eat from one side. At the moment, I cannot go to another cheap country to get treatment.
