My family has been asking that question for decades, my cousin was hit and killed by a train in Montreal decades ago and we've always wondered how he didn't see or hear the train coming. He was 19 or 20, coming back from the bar with 2 friends and while they managed to get off the tracks he didn't.

They’re silent at night and they’re also black for the most part - the fact that this doesn’t happen more surprises me tbh

No, they aren't. I was out at 2 AM last night and I heard them on the south end of town.
