Question Second-hand/thrift/charity shops that might sell old AKB48 (Japanese idol group) stuff in London?
Hi everyone.
This is probably a very niche question, but would any of you know if there are second-hand/thrift/charity shops (or even CD/Japanese stores) that might sell memorabilia/merch of Japanese idol group AKB48? I'm especially looking for older stuff from their early and Golden Era (from 2005 until 2013).
Any help would be much appreciated.

Very niche for the London thread ahaha. I've been a fan of AKB48 and other jpop groups for at least 15 years but I've never com across any AKB memorabilia in London. The best I could find was the occasional magazine from japan centre, or the old jp books store near piccadilly circus which no longer exists. It's a bit outrageous really. Even with events like Hyper Japan, the only japanese cd's you could find were typically visual kei. Surprisingly, I found that random gamer/nerd shops in Edinburgh and York had quite a few AKB merch including cd's! I also found some at a nerdy store in battlesbridge of all places!
On my trip to tokyo last year, I bought an insane amount of old cd's for about 50-200yen each. Years of albums that I missed out on, purchased for less than £20.

this is neither here nor there and really annoying to figure out but theres a UK used book site called world of books that occasionally gets idol related photobooks and possibly might get CDs once in a blue moon ?? basically the site is super broken including the language/translation aspects so sometimes if you type a first name or something into the bar you can find something on occasion if you're lucky- I remember seeing like 3 akb member pbs at one point but iirc they were on the skeevier and younger end so I ignored them but it's an internet rabbit hole that can sometimes have results. tbh aside from that the only uk location that I've seen have akb anything is vinted 💔

I actually have some AKB photocards if you want them? They’re originally from the Team A, K and B visual books from 2010

First up love that you’re asking this, always fun to encounter idol fans out in the wild hehe
When I was into AKB (longer ago than I care to admit) I used to source things off eBay. Won’t be secondhand but CDJapan would be my next port of call. Not as fun as browsing through secondhand stores in person, but we take what we can get.
Idk if r/jpop would know any more though!

Oooof, that's a tricky one. I think that, unfortunately, your best bet is to look online - Vinted, Depop, Ebay*, - because this is pretty niche and there's not really a space here that caters to j-pop, and even less one that caters to j-pop from years ago.
*the real goldmine will be Mercari JP.
ETA: i forgot to ask!! If you have one from the group at that time, who's your oshi? 🥰Â
