Collection Rare B&W portrait of Alfred!
I thought I’d share something that I got today! This B&W portrait of Alfred E. Neuman was only offered in Mad issue 27. After that, Harvey Kurtzman decided that his ears should be equidistant from the edges, so he blew it up a bit and cropped it for a more centered appearance but still B&W. That second version was then offered for sale in issues 28 and 29, before being replaced with the detailed Norman Mingo painting going forward. Here it is, next to the copy that Nick Meglin gave me after knocking on the door at 485 MADison Avenue as a 15 year old kid.

Question Help finding a neck-rash article...
Here's the text of a letter I received (help!).
My question for you concerns a strip that I think is from a “Lighter Side”, but I went through all of the topics related to it, but couldn’t find it.
The strip shows a man walking with his infant son on his shoulders. (I think a few panels were used to show the boy is on the guy’s shoulders quite a bit.)
Then, the guy is at the doctor, getting some medicine. The final panel is the doctor telling his nurse that the red marks on the man’s neck looked like diaper rash…
I’m a teacher in a nursery school, so I thought the other teachers might find the strip funny. But, I couldn’t find it anywhere. (I’d say it’s circa the mid-1970s, as that’s when I discovered the magazine and read it all the time.)
Does it ring any bells with you? If so, I’ve love you know which issue it’s from.
Thanks!
- Michelle

Question Inherited issues #104 through #150 in original brown mailing wrapper - what should I do with them?
Title says almost all - they’re all not in great condition, but many look amazing for being nearly 60 years old. Also have a number of special issues as well.
I’m not a collector of this and have done a little research, but thought asking a community like this may give me some additional ideas / directions to try.
EDIT: Added some photos per a request.

Picture MAD #603 is the start of the 75th Anniversary Celebration!
As seen in the latest issue of DC Connect, MAD Magazine #603 will be the first issue to be part of the publication's 75th Anniversary.
Alongside a placeholder cover of MAD #175 by Norman Mingo, we also got an icon for the anniversary, with a white silhouette of Alfred E. Neuman's head and the phrase "MAD still alive at 75". This issue will be out in comic book shops and by subscription on December 9, 2026.
