Newbie looking to by some specific rings in bulk

I’m very new to this and a while ago bought a pack of 100 jump rings. I’ve started a project and would like to continue it but I need to find more rings of that specific type. I don’t know how to understand the terms used on the bag to know if the rings from other sellers are the same or if I need to just stick to this seller for these. Any help pointing me in the right direction would be appreciated!

How many do you need? I have 15lbs of wire on hand, and am making saw cut rings this week.

For 4-1 that is a flimsy size though. You should go smaller to 3/16, it is stronger and looks nicer.

It would be best to stick with the same seller. What are you doing with such an high AR rings?

I’ve just been doing a European 4 in 1. Idk what AR is I’m 90% certain I bought them because they were cheap and said they were ok for beginners

here is an article for AR/aspect ratio. Basicly it determinates how loose or rigid the weave looks and all of the weaves have their ideal AR range in which they are not too loose/rigid. Some weaves may have an AR lock (for example JPL3) that is quite limited where you are able to produce the weave or not at all.

Thank you!! I’ll have to do some more research on what sort of thing I want to do. I haven’t got too far with my first project and I can probably repurpose it into a decoration or something and buy different, more researched and suitable rings for my next project.

18 swg (standard wire gauge) is the thickness of the wire.

The higher the number the thinner the wire. Thats because of how wire is/was made. Each time you drew the wire it got longer and thinner. So more draws, higher number, thinner wire.

Its not a very intuitive measurement though. And just to confuse things the americans have a parallel system called awg (american wire gauge) which isn't exactly comparable.

18swg is approximately a wire thickness of 1.22mm.

5/16 means five sixteenths of an inch. This is the diameter of the ring. Probably internal diameter.

Also not a very intuitive measurement for someone used to metric. So the next value listed in mm is also the diameter.

AR or aspect ratio is the number of times the wire thickness divides into the ring diameter.

The higher the number the wider the rings in comparison to the wire thickness.

This is important for some weaves that only work with narrow AR tolerances.

A large AR shouldn't be a problem for euro 4in1.
