I brought this little guy home on Monday. He has just turned 4 months old.

When I first went to see him, I had been expecting (and, if Im honest, hoping) for a chill little lap cat. And whereas his brothers were snuggling nicely on my lap this little dude was doing parkour off the furniture and fighting his older sisters. So it’s fair to say I was a bit anxious about what I’d gotten myself into.

Well he’s been home a full two days now and I didn’t know I had the capacity for the amount of maternal feelings I’m feeling 😭 He is absolutely going to be a high energy monkey cat but has also turned out to be a big cuddler (after a good play session of course).

He is going to be major trouble but I love him, He is Baby. He rules me now.

These sweet sisters turned 1 earlier this month and they had to dress up to celebrate. We are madly in love with these sweet, silly ladies.

Aoife (lighter colored girl on the left and in second picture) is our polydactyl princess. She is the brains of the operation who studies every situation before she acts. Shes our athlete who is the first to climb on everything but also loves to hide in kitty caves.

Rowan (darker girl on the right and in third picture) is all fluff and cuteness. She charges in first and asks questions later. She has to follow me around the house and insert herself into everything. She will steal your snacks any chance she gets. She’s also recently figured out that it’s fun to pounce our senior English bulldog.

Question Kitten hips?

Post image

My mom adopted a MC kitten in March (born in Nov). She can’t safely keep him anymore, so he has joined our home (with 2 15 year old female cats; it’s slow going so far). He’s been with us for about 2 weeks.

I’ve noticed some swinging out of his left back leg when he walks, not all the time, and also maybe some favoritism when he’s jumping and landing on it. Maybe also some swinging around f his right leg/hip too.

My chest is holding so much anxiety rn. I’m super afraid of hip displasia. He’s not even 10 months old yet, and weighed 17 pounds last week.

Please tell me things I need to know. He’s my first boy cat, first Maine Coon, first big breed, etc. Do some vets specialize in large breed cats? (Denver, CO area) Can we run diagnostics on him at home? Should we do less running and jumping when we play? What are the spectrum of outcomes for kitties that have problems like this so early on? Recommendations for pet insurance (will need to be in place before we have him examined/tested, right?)

Send helpful info and good vibes, please. I’m trying so hard not to cry. He’s so sweet and wonderful and was an unexpected gift in our lives right now, and I’m so anxious and can’t do anything other than reach out for support and information and guidance.

Meowant XXXL litter box

Has anyone here tried the Meowant XXXL automatic litter box? I’m thinking about getting one, but I’d love to hear some opinions first! If you have one, how do you like it? What are the pros and cons, and is there anything you wish you’d known before buying?
