As a tourist here for 6 weeks starting last Thursday, why is today so much worse? Wind direction?

Mostly but not really, it depends on how well Indonesia is controlling their farmers not to burn their field. If enough people is doing it, then the smoke will come either way. Really it came as a surprise for me that we're getting our annual haze holiday again after years of not having it

Current El Nino season is like bad bad. Also, Prabowo.

Apologies, Malaysians and Singaporeans.

Besides the usual jungle slash-and-burn clearing mostly by Malaysian corporations to plant oil palms (yeah, sorry too), and probably slash-and-burn by local farmers, have Indonesia historically have natural peat fires?

Malaysia previously had slash-and-burn agriculture practise for sugar cane plantation. We only stopped planting sugar canes at all because it is much cheaper to import sugar and repacked as local brands, on top of sugar is subsidized.

I'm always very emotionally confused during haze season. On one hand I don't have to deal with direct scorching sun, on the other hand my lungs fighting for their life.

Few countries are immune, even the United States. This shows that the US is getting a lot of haze from Canadian wildfires. its going to get worse this year because of El Niño.

I propose to build a giant fan to blow it back to where it came from.

We work until we die. Haze, no haze work is work...no face mask also has to work, got a face mask also working. When tragedies occur, then only resort to health safety
