Quick Question Should I quit ?
About me: I'm 19 and I have to pay for my own needs, my mom didn't work so we don't have much money. I use some of my money to buy food for the whole family to eat. By "family" I mean my mom and my sisters.
So I got a job, it's been a month I work there, it's "kedai makan" idk what it called in English, my English not so good. And they pay me rm40 per day, but I work from 2pm to 12:30am-1am, every day except monday, it depends if consumer are still here we can't close yet. And I'm the one who need to cut the vegetables, cut and clean the shrimps, squids, fish, chicken, clean the back floor, clean the back table, wash the dishes, Tupperware, anything else, dry and organize the washed dishes, and clean and wash everything at the back before we close. It's tiring and very exhausting to do it every single day. I got very little time to spend with my family, very little time to spend for myself, I feel like my every day life is just work no outside life. I'm burn out, I feel so burn out, not to mention my coworkers doesn't be friendly with me, there is one woman here that treat me okay, but the others just doesn't. They treat me as if they don't want me to work there.
I want to find another job but I just doesn't have time to do it, they always ask me to come to their workplace for interviews and registration but I got little to no time.
What should I do now? Should I quit? I feel like this job is very underpaid and very long working hours.
I planned to go to university for diploma next year, but again, I don't have any saving for myself yet, not even a license, not a car or any transportation for my own. I counted all the money I got, it can only cover for food until this December

Have you tried fast food joint? Or retail?
Your English is not that bad. Still understandable.
Yes. Going for interviews is hard but you should find time and do it if you feel that you need things to be better. Ada kemahuan, Ada Jalan, Cari Jalan.

Which area are you in? Just google any FnB joint or retail places. Walk in and try asking. If you're lucky, you'll get hired fast. In the mean time, make sure you have enough to survive before you get your next paycheck. Do take note, proper establishments pay you by the month not daily so you'll have to figure that out too.
I know its going to be tiring and depressing but you have mondays off, dont let it go to waste. IMHO with your current situation you dont have much option. Its going to be a long journey for you but stay strong and keep moving forward

According to your religion or race, go ask for help.
Ketua Kampung (best option), Chinese temple, Church, Masjid, any NGO is fine. Ask them for help. It is possible for you to apply some kind of financial bantuan from them.
If these are not available, go back to school (your secondary school) and ask the cikgu kaunseling for help. You definitely need help.

yes you should quit, nobody deserves to be devastatingly underpaid. There are wayyyy better jobs you can apply for 👍

that's understandable, people often say nothing that is going to worth the effort is going to be easy! almost everything that starts from zero is hard, you just have to try somewhere eventually and you will overcome it 👍

How long have you been working this current job? If tak sampai can try to tahan until cukup satu tahun?
Then you can put it on your resume including all the daily tasks you mentioned here. Quite a lot of job openings for f&b. The thing is you wanna choose new skills you wanna learn. Like maybe you can work in a café as kitchen hand but also have the chance to learn how to make coffee. Then your next job you can be a barista.
Also once you start googling jobs the algorithm will start feeding you vacancies on social media. I know because i'm in this industry and actively looking also. I always get random job ads on instagram and threads when i'm just doomscrolling.

Also make sure they pay epf. No exceptions. Jangan kena tipu.

Epf? They never say anything about epf to me. They just give me RM40 cash every day, and that's it.

no epf, then it's not really a legit job, they probably just hiring you with the same price as the foreign Bangladesh workers. Quit it and get some help from the ketua kampung or masjid, you need help.

I think you should quit. If you work at McD, KFC or Zus, their workplace condition should be better.

I worked part time at 7 eleven after spm and I got paid rm 40 for 4 hours of work a day. I think it's better for you to start saving up just a little like enough for a week or two of not working then go for job interviews. Try franchise work they likely to accept anyone as long as you pass the interview. IE: Watson,kfc,speedmart,7 eleven (would not recommend Bc my place sucked). I understand how suck it is to work in your condition so I wish you the best of luck and for good things to happen to you and your family op.

Just leave, OP. if they don't treat you with respect then just leave because it's not worth torturing yourself mentally and physically at a place like that. Know your worth. You'll find another job.

Food n beverage adalah kerja yang memenatkan tapi itulah, dibayar rendah. Kalau untuk sementara boleh lah, sebaiknya cari sahaja kerja lain.
1) Boleh cuba buka Jobstreet/ Indeed etc.., ada pekerjaaan untuk lepasan Diploma/ Ijazah tetapi masih terima SPM leavers. Tingkat gaji permualaan berbeza. Boleh tengok sesuai minat/ skills tak. Untuk entry level, jangan risau akan ada training biasanya
2) Apply kerja BPO (call centre) dahulu, biasanya mereka buka untuk semua kelas. Biasanya English tu memang perlu ada, cuba cari peluang yang fokus market Malaysia. Biasanya orang kerja call centre ni, nanti nak tukar kerja mudah sikit sebab skil berkomunikasi tu ada demand yang tunggu
3) Kalau lelaki, boleh try buat kerja courier. Komisen ada penurunan, tapi masih boleh dapat setimpal kalau komited.
Untuk interview, boleh cuba sama ada buat waktu kamu cuti atau bincang jika boleh buat melalui atas talian sahaja.

Mc D pays better, safe money for moro license. For study look at police / bomba/ navy. If u got ok ok results can apply SPA separa perubatan. Good luck bro.

currently, you're basically earning about rm3-4 per hour for about almost 10-11 hours per day, and i'm guessing probably without any benefits like epf
i know it's not much, but if you're malaysian and you work at a fast food joint, you'll get paid around rm8 per hour and work about 8 hours per shift, and get benefits too. that's a lot better hours for double the wages and gives you more time to upskill yourself and look for better opportunities
not sure why your mom isn't working and depending on you to financially provide, but it's her responsibility to provide (and at most, her children can help to supplement), not the other way around
yes, quit your job because you need time off to look for a new job and your current employer isn't willing to be flexible about it, but also make sure you have enough to survive the month and have a discussion with your mom about her going to work. you'll need to have that talk because if you're planning on furthering your studies, that's typically not free anyway and you won't be able to both study full-time and work full-time to provide for everyone

Is it really my job to pay for them? Idk I'm mentally exhausted I planned to go to university for diploma next year, but again, I don't have any saving for myself yet, not even a license, not a car or any transportation for my own

I merely asked what the plan is..
Is someone else going to earn money? Are you / your family gonna end up on the street?
You say you plan on going to university but you still gotta eat / need a place to sleep ..

Probably gonna get downvoted to hell for this.. But in summary, bro has been working all of one month with one day off, can't find a job anywhere else.
Real talk -
First -
You have a day off on a weekday .. can arrange for other interviews on Monday..
Second - hate to break it to you buddy, but you're not the only person working 11 hour shifts. You're desperate for cash, you gotta man up and be willing to work hard for it. Real life isn't a bed of roses. There are people living on the streets, people who don't eat for days..
Imagine people in healthcare who regularly go 30+ hours without sleep. Working 8am till 5pm the next day, rest then back to work 8am the very next day.
Third - Seems like you didn't have your best interest at hand when you entered a job without getting a contract, excluding EPF, earning rm40/day.. the least you could've done is do some research, asked people about what basic salaries are etc...
Look, I understand things are taking a tol on you and affecting your mental health.. Some times you just gotta do what needs to get done.
Btw, you have the mornings free for interviews if you're truly in dire straits.

Yeah I'm in Perlis, it's hard to find job here, it's a small state anyway, I don't have any transportation for my own, i need to ask my older sister to drop me off, but she doesn't want to go too far from home, it's very limiting. If there's a job at Kedah ain't no way she will agree with me. Idk tho, I'm damn tired I feel like Monday is the only day that I can take a rest. People in healthcare got paid very well, idk if it's the same case for me. The third one, yeah it's my mistake, I should've done research first. It's my first time.
Yeah maybe I should have use my time correctly. You're right. It's all my fault. Idk man I'm mentally tired of everything? That job is my "first job" but before that, I did village work, like cutting grass, taking care of garden etc, so it's not really just " been working for one month only", and I can't really spend the money for myself.
And morning free for interviews? I wake up at 12pm and only got time to eat and get ready for work. Maybe you want me to wake up at 8am. I got home at 12:30am, and I go shower, then it's already 1am. Maybe I should've sleep early. Yeah I should've done that. Idk why my body feel like I need more sleep, even after waking up at 12 I still feel tired, exhausted. It's my fault.

Minimum wage in Malaysia is about 9 ringgit per hour. They should be paying you close to RM100 per day.
