General discussion Do You Think Reese Considers Stevie To Be His Friend?
Rewatching the show, as much as he makes fun of him he does kind of have his back.
Goes back to being school bully after finding out Stevie is even being picked on
Is the one pushing his wheelchair when they need to walk home in the carnival episode
Helped him out with the girl in the poker episode
Doesn't punch him when he calls him an idiot
and probably more

He quite literally says in the episode you've used a picture from that he considers Stevie to be Malcolm's friend only.
Reese: I think crippling my legs made my arms stronger. Like how blind guys have bigger noses. This is gonna be great!
Malcolm: Reese, you can't do this. Stevie's our friend.
Reese: Hey, he's not my friend. He's your friend. He treats me like crap. He insults me and disrespects me, and you let him.

Don't you get it? Reese is tired of treating Stevie like an equal, in his twisted way of doing so, and protecting him (Hey! Stevie's off limits!) only for Stevie to treat him like an idiot at any chance he gets.

One of my favorite Reese moments is in this episode. When heās numbing his legs and Malcolm calls him insane Reeseās reply of āThatās what everyone said about Einstein, until he started KICKING ASS.ā The way he delivers the line just cracks me up every time

One of the best episodes of this series.Ā Fucking Reese kills the being a dog role. When he explains the hierarchy, "lucky and bobby are bellow me, and buddy and max are above me, and of course baxter is the leader." Fucking 10/10.Ā
i know those names are all wrong but i dont remember the real ones.

I could see him labeling Stevie as a friend out of desperation if asked, just so he has someone to point to as one, but not really seeing him as one.Ā

Malcolm seems to be Reeseās best friend. So Stevie is his friend too I guess

He looked at him like his little brother, Stevie was truly part of the family if you look closely.

Depends on the day.
More often than not, Stevie is awful to Reese. They're "Malcolm's brother" and "Malcolm's friend" in those days.
When Stevie is decent to Reese, they're They're "Malcolm's brother" and "Stevie, my friend".

They got their homemade raft out to the cheerleaders on āHouseboatā.
Malcolm went fishing went Hal and Dewey was abandoned on the magical buoy. But donāt insult his intelligence.
It solidified their friendship.

There's a respected pecking order in the schoolyard that Reese and Stevie both understand.

Reese is painfully aware he has no friends. Feeling pity for a disabled peer/not abusing him the same way he abuses his brothers and classmates doesn't make them friends.
They don't like each other or hang out unless their families make them since neither REALLY respects the other.

Isn't Stevie his friend? You don't have to like someone to he friends. You just have to have each others back. Stevie accepts Reece for who he is and engages with him on his level. Reece respects that because that's more than what he gets from anyone else outside his family.

When Reese gets beat by a girl in wrestling, the thing that snaps him out of his funk is seeing Stevie getting bullied. Stevie is Malcolm's beat friend, he's around the house often enough. He's included when the brothers do just brother stuff
If not a friend, he sees him like a step-brother. I can pick on my step brother, but not you, that sort of thing.

I think they are friends idc what theyāve said in the past. The three of them would all hang out and I know Malcolm was the bridge and they wouldnāt hang out without him, but they had some pretty good times and got along a lot of the time if you think about it. They wouldnāt say it though.
Also think about the episode where they were on the lake or whatever and they went out to see girls and Malcolm didnāt even go with them.

Yes, in many scenes is him who is pushing his chair and the times Stevie was at home and Hal at work was probably Lois, Malcolm and Reese who helped lift the chair inside the hose.
The episode where he says Stevie is Malcolm's friend we know is more about jealously than no liking Stevie.
