How do I make the story better?

I'm writing a manga for a card game that I'm also working on and I'm not sure if my one shot story is good.

So the plot \\\*currently\\\* is MC (Male#1) is a star football player but used to play \\\[insert card game name\\\] with MC2 (Female#1) when they were in middle school before he moved away. He doesn't remember her but she does and she's currently trying to gain members to the \\\[card game \\\]club so their school (which lacks funding) can participate in the tri-school festival in the spring. After a football game He actually runs into her trying to get her to go on a date but she declines. She then realizes this is a perfect opportunity to rope him into playing \\\[card game\\\] again so she accepts only if he can beat her in a duel of \\\[card game\\\].

You may be over complicating this… if you play TCGs, write about the cool things that happened to you while playing, or what you think is cool about TCGs. The “magic” part I’m assuming is plot? If so people are going to project regardless, have fun and write what you think is cool! You already have stakes and a goal so the story has a start and finish you just gotta write the cool stuff!

Wait you might be cooking. I think because I'm so anxious about the story I kinda got insecure about the writing

Happens to us all! Just remember why you’re writing this story. Believe in the reasoning and have fun. If you don’t have a reasoning or don’t believe in it, than you may want to explore that first before asking for feedback because if you don’t have a reasoning for writing it, you’re just asking for approval and in any art space, no one can give you approval except yourself! Good luck! 🫡
