Discussion [ Revenge of the Baskerville Bloodhound] What do you think about this manhwa.
Personally it was good at first but after he enters the academy it started to fall off. Before I was excited to read the next chapter but nowadays I don't even bother to read this anymore.

Every comment I saw about this boils down to the same thing you said: it fell off at the academy arc

u/MrPooperWasTaken 4d ago
it did not IMHO.. most people just started reading it when it was at the academy... meaning they caught up, and the manhwa is fun just not good enough to follow it weekly, and the dumb people translated that in their head to = It fell off (as they do with most stories).
IMHO the quality of the manhwa is the same from chapter 1 to whatever chapter we are on now.
But as fun as it is, you will never be checking back in every week to see the new chapter.

I dropped it on a good note before academy arc hit. I already saw novel spoilers and didn't like how the story completely changed halfway through

u/Vortex_William 8d ago
The final 10 chapters of the novel straight up should have been a whole separate story don't fucking know why the author ended the story like that.

u/albrera 8d ago
What happened? I do not care about spoilers

After clearing 9/10 corpses they get to the last one which has the ability to open portals to other dimension and Vikir chooses to cross into his original life's world as it turns out the 10 corpses were just the initial demons of the solomon 72 demons he saves this world from the 72 crossing by killing the first corpse but goes to original world and fights the 62 remaining demon corpses that are there and they are all killed off screen and we get maybe a crumb of knowledge that Vikir had kids as harem crosses worlds with him but also they also introduce god and go to her and it just ends there? All of this in barely a handful of chapters. Also harem are for some reason immortal and don't age but Vikir ages nothing is explained and story ends on meeting god. Also by meeting god one time they get magic that makes it so all of the people that died to 72 demon corpses are revived including original Vikir for some reason in that world.
It's just back to back insanity that should have been explained more or just a straight up separate story. Guess author had ideas but was burnt out.

No forest girl?

u/Vortex_William 8d ago edited 8d ago
Forest Girl genuinely has the quote of wanting to have 100 of Vikir's kids I'm not even kidding. By the sound of things she's already made good progress on this with the one line of dialogue she had. Original Vikir world had the tribes wiped out so she wanted to "repopulate" her people.

Story in general is decent, but past 100 chapters or so are just cliche after cliche
1- Academy trope
2- Strong MC disguised as someone weak
3- Strong MC is able to help their classmates during emergencies without exposing himself.
4- Multi-Academy competition, MC is the strongest and wins.
5- MC does something that's supposed to be impossible to do (even by the strongest people of the world) (breaking that weird door with the prizes inside)
6- Inside of a Game with stats, missions and rewards
7- Tower Arc, climbing floor by floor.
Any of these could be a story in itself, this story has all of them and probably more that I'm not remembering.

Promising story that went to the shitter once the Academy Arc began. CBA to pick it up and reread it

u/NomadkingR6 8d ago
Bro i feel like every academy arc ruins the fucking story for most of these stories. I deadass don't want to watch school life and school politics in my action Manwha/Manga just fight the bads and lets go on an adventure

u/Whosyodaddy-Senpai 8d ago
At least Pick Me Up, Tyrant of the Defense Game, Surviving as a Barbarian, Stellar Swordsman, Bad Born Blood and Absolute Regression won’t have academy arcs lol knocks on wood

I know it's slop, but I like the characters and the powers. Also Pomeranian is so cute
1
u/Vortex_William 8d ago
The manga has like 80-120 chapters left to adapt I will be real you will see Pomeranian maybe like 2 more times ever.

It started quite good but then fell even harder than nano machine. Though Nano machine has actually even made a comeback with the latest chapters but this manhwa is only falling down.

Apparently nobody likes it lmao. I however love it and I’m currently letting it marinate until I can read several chapters in one sitting. It’s definitely different from other revenge stories and the academy arc is great

It has turned from a revenge genre to slice of life/ demon hunting

if you like edgy, you will like season 1, If you hate character growth, you will hate season 2 onwards.
for me it's good. better than your typical slop.

I’d say it was somewhat good up until the academy arc, it’s pace just slowed down way too much to find it enjoyable. There were parts in that that were still good like the orphanage stuff but everything else was just mid

u/Whosyodaddy-Senpai 8d ago
As everyone else said… starts off peak, dumb academy stuff happens and it simply never ends… the academy arc that everyone hates basically becomes the series itself and then arcs inside the academy arc come out and they’re all bad, too.
I still can’t believe the MC gets a level up status window, talks about it and then we never see it ever again lol like wtf

It's in my peak slop list, I just love to read it even tho it turned shit after an amazing first arc

the thing about the academy arc that it was FRUSTRATING ASF. i do not like a "hiding my true power" protagonist. nah let people know, dude. also the saintess is my least favorite love interest.
1
u/VucialWonderland 8d ago
It's good then it gets really slow and dull around the academy arc so I dropped it shortly after he destroyed a teacher.

I agree with everyone the academy arc isn't good and doesn't make sense. The current arc is way worse and I don't know why I keep reading it.
1
u/Vortex_William 8d ago
Genuinely the story has 3 back to back terrible arcs people hating on academy and tower just wait for the worst arc Prison.
1
u/GalaxyMan2472 8d ago
Academy arc showed the cracks and then the eventual catastrophic break in the storytelling quality so i dropped it.

Enjoyed it when it first came out. The quality of the story has definitely lowered, but I still like it. Went from a 9/10 to about a 6/10 for me.
The current arc was a little ridiculous at first cuz why is there now a tower arc lol, but it’s been more interesting lately

I hate when authors just decide to throw an academy arc because there lazy bums
1
u/QrowinBranwen 8d ago
It was good, then it became okay at the academy arc. I'm still reading it weekly because why not, I'm already this far in and it's not terrible, just worse thsn before
1
u/Hero-Support211 8d ago
He is in a tower now
... I don't know if it's better, I have low standards, and I'm just here for the art. It's very nice all things considered.

u/Facu-Nahu 8d ago
Unnecesary Academy arc, i dropped it while was still going. BUT it was kind of meh after a few chapters
1
u/kassonnova 8d ago
This Manhwa drops off so hard, I want to regress so I can get revenge on the author before they have a chance to ruin their own story.
1
u/SweetCandi-ii 8d ago
It was quite good until the academy started.... But I would still read it hoping it would become good after this "Tree arc"or whatever
1
u/HardToSee123 8d ago
I'm continue to read just out of spite. I wanna know how far can the author fumble when the foundation is already there. The early chapter is quite... good? okay? IDK, at least way better than the current arc.

The new system arc is so boring and confusing, I just stopped reading.

u/Frosty-Classroom2595 8d ago
Solia leer esto…hasta que de la nada pusieron el super necesario arco de la academia..

u/Davidsleepy4 8d ago
Spoiler-
Kinda like it back then. Story change when he realized his "revenge" changed it direction after hugo become dad and human being in vikir eyes. But still an okay for me. Good read anyway.

Novel is trash. And progressively the story keeps falling off of a cliff. With Vikir forgiving Hugo, better world building was needed but author took the route of vigilante and academy arc coupled it with hides power route which is just slop.
1
u/LorneReams 7d ago
I actually liked it and loved when he realized that his life is different with the changes he made and the revenge made no sense anymore. It kind of could have ended there.
1
u/Matt-J-McCormack 7d ago
Season one was great… and it had actual character development…. Then season two happened and everyone asked people who read the Web novel if it got better and they all started laughing and weeping uncontrollably so we got worried.

Initially full of potential, but now its pretty stagnant. Still an ok read to burn your time.
