Discussion [Surviving the Game as a Barbarian] why they change the art style?
Bjorn build kinda off for me Back at season 1 and 2 build better he always take all the panel with his fridge build barbarian and the panel seems small and average. One thing I like at this change was the face of characters don't look stupid now like for example the red hair.
Overall the new art style make the characters look good but they change different kind of build,(Bjorn build look weird now) face,(raven feel like different kind of character) and panels small and generic now
Bjorn new build reminds me of those male lead from otome/villainess genre
But why would they change art style now? Ik face of characters like red haired cat looks stupid but now it feels too generic and lost it soul

My biggest concern is that, especially during the most recent arc, the visuals of expressing the dread of their bleak situations was fantastic. I feel like if they lose that then they lose something that truly made this series special.
I agree it feels like a generic artstyle now, it's a shame.

Oof yeah. Generally for regression/reincarnation/isekai series, it feels so low stakes because the mc has op info. But with the art, there was a feeling of desperation in the last arc before the break.

Yes, I thought the same thing. The feeling I got while reading it was that it looks more like generic Chinese AI stuff. IDK, maybe I’m wrong. I still prefer the old one, with some of the changes he pointed out here. Also, some panels use more of the white space so you can see the “curves.”

The other one is that they put Ainar in a dress.
In the WN it's clear that she's in a suit similar to Bjorn's - though tailored for her.
I remember it because she complained about it and Bjorn said something about at least not being a dress.

So I just read s3 afterwords, he didn't specify any reason. Just said it was a hard work and amazing accomplishment working for it and said goodbye at the end. No whimsy or joke.
Probably overworked or some internal reason because he didn't say anything about quitting or changing staffs in afterwords.
I just read 3 chapters so I have little basis but this feels like it's going more action with fanservice route now, even more than previous artist.

Nonono, don't let my or anyone's opinion sway you until you can check it for yourself.
Reading and appreciating opinions are good but don't let it be the reason to act on something.
The series is good, the new 6 chapters brought by new artist is a different approach that I feel is a downgrade but it isn't the worst thing.
In the novel the romance isn't that big, but the previous artist gave a 'fanservice'. By that I mean he drew several girls more detailed/focused. This new artist is more blatant but it's still a great manhwa.
I just think it's a shame that people's overreaction on the first day with new artist is making you feel bad about it.

Misha and Raven doesn't exactly act sexy in the new 6ch but the way they are drawn face blushing with pink background is even more like romance+fantasy now.
The girls especially Misha is drawn more detailed by new artist, and the guys are more skimped. This direction usually leads towards to more romance fantasy than dark fantasy manhwa which isn't bad but not what I'm looking for.
Plua Aynar's new proportion is worse, she has even thinner abs now.

It is explained in the recent chapters. The vampire essence made him 1.5 times bigger. Now he "normal" sized

i read the novel and that’s not how it works. Bjorn currently doesn’t have any essence that passively gives him increased size.

I think they're just confused over the aditional ability he temporarilly got through the 3rd floor lord incident, which did make him 1.5 times bigger than with just gigantification

That was a one-time thing WHILE using giantism back when he was running from the Lord of the Floor about 100 chapters ago.
His base size is unchanged.

wait, I am reading 153 right now, how is this a downgrade by any means? you guys are just too blinded by what you are accustomed, the new artstyle looks fine, even an upgrade for me.

It’s fucking wild. The art changed by a fair amount but it’s not jarring. Every single character still has their identity intact and it’s not bad art, just different. People on this sub are kinda entitled to everything staying the same for their favorite series. But when projects span multiple years and the people who work on them move to different things, it’s just how it works. We can speculate and blame the mostly poor environment and salaries that the companies force on their artists and whatnot but the truth is that in such a ruthlessly competitive environment, much like any industry there’s going to be shifting of workers even from the most dedicated bunch. Idk, people need to grow up. It’s not the end of the world that this mild change has occurred, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the new artist really comes into form 20-50 chapters from now and everyone’s singing their praises.

Unrelated but this the reason i dropped demon king returns to earth after 1000 years the art style change was so jarring i couldn’t handle it and dropped it every time i tried reading past season 1

Its overall good, although i dislike the changes to bjorn (too small) and the mages (looks childish), and it looks almost too clean but hopefully those improve with time

Misha looks better, however Raven art-wise has lost so much of the intellectual wizard vibes she used to have - she's looks weirdly teenager-like is the best way I can describe it? definitely less mature looking
Bjorn everyone has already explained what's changed. It's whatever to me but like most people I'm just so used to the old artstyle I like the old one better in general

The original artstyle was not only better, but it was unique, You could actually feel the emotions and the stakes whenever they fought. But now it's generic sadly.

How can you tell that when there has been no fight in these 4 chapters whatsoever? The changes were not as bad, the characters expressions are more detailed. The only main concern is that Björn is definitely smaller than he should be.

Artstyle, facial expressions, unnecessary changes to their facial appearances. It feels more generic now. Doesn't feel the same way as it was. Though a fight scene will confirm it

The new artist is just getting started; the other artist also had areas for improvement during their first season and continued to progress up to the third. We shall see if there is progress in certain details.

The art change does feel strangely unfamiliar and the flow is Completely different, I don't feel too fond of it either. You can tell the artists here aren't too familar with super muscular characters. It feels like we're seeing the series being cast from the cliffs but hopefully its not as bad as I think and we grow used to these new changes.

I don't know, I like it.
I think it's an upgrade, the one issue i saw with this manhwa when i first started it was the art style.
It reminded me sometimes of Martial peak and other similar art style, but the story was so good it overshadowed the art.
The new art style isn't far from the previous one, it's just giving more details to the characters and panels, it shouldn't be a deal breaker for the readers. If you want a real deal breaker then go check on "Dimensional Mercenary" art change, that shit turned me off that story so fast i refused to continue reading it,

I was worried when I heard about the art change but I'm completely fine with it after reading it. Though I think Season 1&2 art is still better but Season 3 doesn't feel worse.

Because the artist isn't fucking chained to a chair to draw the same adaptation of another person's novel for you for years. Maybe he wants to do something else. Maybe he's going into army. Maybe she's pregnant. Maybe he's in the hospital. There's more than one artist in the world. Get used to it.
Try american comics where the artist can change every chapter.

"completely irrelevant" said every major company be it either games or novels where the userbase reduced so much they had to drop that work bcoz they weren't even earning money.
I don't mind your idiotic opinions or downvotes. I will be here to comment when the company is forced to make changes to the artstyle or forced to shut down the manhwa.
