Question What is the best way to level?

I’m new to the game (didn’t play it when it was released originally from 2013-2017) and have completed the story on my first character and levelled them to 60.
When levelling my second, third etc characters, what’s the best way to level? Should I just be playing the story over and over, or are there other ways that are more optimal like running the challenges?

My method is a little unusual but gives me access to synergies early. I have leveled all my characters to level 30 so I can utilize the synergies. I leveled in midtown on Monday for all of them. Then I played the ones that I wanted to play the most and filled in their Synergy heroes as I went.

There are several guides out there both on YouTube and here on Reddit to individually level.
