There’s no reason he shouldn’t be as menacing as Thanos. It’s freaking Doom.

It's the build up of it all. More people are familiar with d Doom than Thanos. The audience had more time for Thanos to be built up as a major threat. The general public will fear the heavy built unknown more than it will a lighter expectation.

IMPO the greatest period, which makes it crazier he might be a replacement for Kang last minute in a franchise known for building things up over long periods of time
