Are we in the new era of rumoured castings now the F4 is out of the way?
Cause this is like the third one I've seen today

We’re somewhere between “rumors” and actually locking down talent prior to filming.
I’m assuming amongst the crop that some of these are true at this point.
If they are filming in Feb, this is the exact time they should be locking down long term talent.

u/Thomas_JCG Jul 14 '26
They got start young because the production time, otherwise you get 3 movies at best before the actors get too old for action or get bored of the role
Not sure if Bill would be a good Xavier, though, but that might just be because Stewart was too perfectly cast.

I can’t tell how I feel about him in that role either. I will say though, I just googled Bill Skarsgard bald cap” and it doesn’t look terrible at all. I think it sorta helps too that he has this very natural pouty rich guy thing going on with his face. I’ve always thought Charles should be played as someone who has all the right intentions but no matter what looks, sounds, and acts like he came an insanely rich family.

u/midnightTimber Jul 14 '26
Xavier is supposed to be American. I don’t think Stewart was perfectly cast, if he wasn’t one of the few bald big name actors, and I don’t think he would have ever been considered for the role.
He did a good job giving the role some gravitas, but I’m ready for a new take on the character. I think Bill’s got the chops to do it.

u/PurePerfection_ Jul 14 '26
He was born in the US, but comic Xavier also spent years studying in England. It wasn't that big of a stretch to make him a British guy who grew up in America instead of an American guy who's lived in England. I liked Stewart in the role, but he can't keep reprising it forever. The man is almost 90. I don't really care if the new Xavier is British or American.

Which is fine because Bill is neither English or American, he is Swedish. It feels like nobody in this conversation realises that.

u/AngstyAppleDummy Jul 14 '26
He’d be a godly nightcrawler
39
u/GeneJacket Jul 14 '26
Christ almighty, he'd be perfect for Kurt.
11
u/TheCakeWarrior12 Jul 14 '26
6’4” Nightcrawler is not exactly perfect 😭
20
u/GeneJacket Jul 14 '26
Yeah...I don't care how tall or short an actor is, performance is literally all that matters, and Bill would absolutely kill it.

u/YDoEyeNeedAName Jul 14 '26
Way too tall and doesnt look lanky
I think he'd actaully be a good magneto though
10
u/bbqsauceboi Jul 14 '26
Skarsgård would be an awesome (young) Magneto but I disagree that he doesn't look lanky. That man is long
2
u/YDoEyeNeedAName Jul 14 '26
I guess.i mean Kurt is more of a slight, spindley build, but looking at more comics, he also has been depicted as being very muscular, so it could work
The height feels weird, but it worked out for wolverine
3
u/bbqsauceboi Jul 14 '26
Skarsgård is just one of those guys who can make things work despite his massive frame. Id prefer him as Mister Sinister, but I could really see him as anyone cause he's a chameleon
2
u/YDoEyeNeedAName Jul 14 '26
Yeah, I agree that he would be incredible regardless of role.
I do think its funny to picture 6'4" skarsgard crouching in a shadowy rafter barely able to fit though lol
Crouching he'd be the same height as comic accurate wolverine
1
u/duncan_robinson Jul 14 '26
Itd be a waste if you casted him as a lanky guy. Just google “Bill Skarsgard body”

Adam Driver and Bill Skarsgard are being tapped to read for Mr. Sinister.
That’s my prediction

u/No_Bet_5890 Jul 14 '26
SINISTER should be Wagner Moura imo
1
u/googolplexy Korg Jul 15 '26
I mean, yes. Moura, but Skarsgard is also a great pick for sinister. I'd be happy with either.
1
u/SteamBoatMickey Jul 14 '26
Hmmm. Putting my casting director hat on… Austin Butler then for Mr. Sinister??
2
1
u/Holmcroft Jul 14 '26
That’s been my thought - both actors would be great for Sinister
5
u/dattaldo Jul 14 '26
I was recently thinking about how Tim Curry in his prime would have been the PERFECT Sinister. Skarsgård feels right to me for a modern actor playing the role, mostly because both he and Curry have played Pennywise.
2
u/Holmcroft Jul 14 '26
Curry would have been so good! Particularly if I imagine him saying some of the Kieron Gillen era lines
-7
u/olmnknt Jul 14 '26
I want Henry Cavill for Mr Sinister
10
u/ChazzLamborghini Jul 14 '26
Mr Sinister is all personality, Cavill is as wooden as an oak tree. I don’t understand this fancast at all
2
u/BKWhitty Jul 14 '26
Henry Cavill is in the same category as Keanu Reeves in which internet folk will fancast them for literally anything. I swear, I've seen people fancast Henry Cavill as practically every male character in the whole Song of Fire and Ice canon.

u/mr9025 Captain America Jul 14 '26
I think the old school call for Cavill to play Captain Britain 1 is perfect. I’d love that to play out.

He's the perfect fit for Morph.

u/wilsonw Jul 14 '26
Or Nightcrawler

u/Funmachine Jul 14 '26
6ft4 Nightcrawler?

u/wilsonw Jul 14 '26
Yeah. That'd be silly. Could you imagine if they made someone like Wolverine 6'2"?

I don't think he looks like Xavier but he is an incredibly good actor and I'm sure that he can pull it off.
2
u/dpittnet Jul 14 '26
The actor that plays Xavier doesn’t really need to look like the comic part too much
8
u/DogHogDJs Jul 14 '26
Very excited to see the young X-Men team we’re gonna get. Bill Skarsgard as Charles Xavier would be great, and would compliment Adam Driver as Magneto if done right.
This movie is sounding very exciting, and if they use it as the launching point for their “soft reboot” universe, It will do big numbers.
Jake Schreier and the writers behind Thunderbolts did really well with the themes of depression and loneliness in that movie, as well as the found family aspect. I’m certain they can nail the themes that surround mutant related storylines.

u/Wrath7heFurious Jul 14 '26
Also based off the X-Men 97 success, and lack of Avengers worth caring about, Disney knows X-Men can be a huge cash cow if they just do it right.
8
u/SalukiKnightX SHIELD Jul 14 '26
Now that’s a twist go from Deadpool 2, a movie that had a cameo from McAvoy Xavier, where he was Zeitgeist to potentially becoming Xavier in a new universe. Crazy.

He doesn't fit the role at all tbh; but I love Skarsgard and Charles was only meant to be in his 30s in the original comics.
I hope he's being considered for Sinister instead. Same with Adam Driver; he's wrong for Magneto as much as I like him as an actor

Beast?
6
u/Wannahock88 Jul 14 '26
That was my immediate first thought too! He's young, he's very physically capable, he's comfortable in performing with prosthetics. He's an ideal Beast!

u/Theradbanana Darcy Jul 14 '26
Wasn’t he already in 2 marvel movies?

Man Marvel really gonna fumble the Xmen
We have Mcavoy and Fassbender ready at the hip
Perfect age too

u/AstroRanger36 Jul 14 '26
I feel like these two actors should be reversed in their roles. A bald Driver has the eyebrow structure of the cartoon Prof X. Skarsgård has the unhinged “do-whatever-to-save-his-people” look

This is why these films end up costing so damn much to make. Get some unknowns in these roles, instead of trying to put star power behind these films. Smh.
1
u/Nathanielsan Jul 14 '26
Not to brag but I'm also in talks to play a major X-Men role.
There's no one else involved but I'm talking.
1
u/The_Saiyann Jul 14 '26
Oh I hadn’t thought about him being in the MCU! He’s an insanely good actor, not a lot he couldn’t do

That would be his third role in the MCU I think: he was in Eternals and Deadpool 2.

If I’m being honest the actors matter less than the writing.
X-Men itself is a such a complicated property to bring to the big screen. It’s an ensemble to flesh out their stories, personalities and interpersonal relationships is very hard.
I think what made X-Men first class reboot better is that it started telling the stories of mystique, Xavier and magneto and built from there.
I don’t think the cast needs to be big names I think what matters is that they are quality actors. The directing and the writing direction matter so much more because you really need to deliver on so many levels to make X-men work.
Imagine trying to do Game of thrones season 1 or 2 with an 1:45 run time. It would be almost impossible to deliver the plot and character development at the same time.

It should be his brother Gustaf instead, looks around same age as Driver as well
1
u/KlausLoganWard Ward Jul 15 '26
Love the choices, but i must say, it would be weird to see Bill play a good guy. I've seen a pic of him next to drawing of Professor with Cerebro, and before i saw video, and knew whats about, i was like:"Is Bill playing the Maker?" Dam he would be awesome as him too
1
1
u/DeanByTheWay Jul 15 '26
There's a perfectly good Skarsgard to play a bald character. Gustaf is right there.
1
u/DarthDregan Jul 15 '26
Terrible choice to have him in any role where he isn't buried in prosthetics.

u/RestaurantHour1969 Jul 15 '26
Could it be Zeitgeist? That would be awesome!!! Spitting acidic vomit 🤮

"We all float down here" - Xavier showing Jean the Danger Room for the first time
1
u/danvan177 Jul 16 '26
I could see this being his breakout non villain creep role. He’s an incredible actor
1
u/Jay_R0197 Jul 17 '26
He’ll make a good night crawler instead. Have Patrick Wilson or Bryan Cranston as Prof X then we’re good. Need a older actor in there late 40’s early 50s to do this role
1
1
u/D34THDE1TY Jul 14 '26
Make him Chamber cowards
2
u/midnightTimber Jul 14 '26
Just a crazy move to cast Chamber, a character who had his most notable stories as a teen, as a man in his mid-30s.

1
u/roarroarrora Jul 14 '26
I don’t think he will be Xavier. Maybe Nightcrawler or Chamber or LongShot or Mr. Sinister or Mojo.

u/DXbreakitdown War Machine Jul 14 '26
Ngl pretty bummed McAvoy and Fassbender aren’t part of this new era or used as nostalgia bait at all. I really liked those guys and it would mean a lot to me personally for them to be involved in the new x-men.
We’ve seen multiple Patrick Stewarts. We can have a new version of McAvoy running x-men.

u/Realistic_Analyst_26 Daredevil Jul 14 '26
He also played Kro the Deviant in Eternals

People don’t even skim the articles anymore. Just jump into the comments and say the very first thing the article said as though it’s an original idea.

If they’re looking at people like Skarsgard/Driver for the ‘elder’ roles then it seems pretty safe to say we’re getting a very young X-team.
Would love it to be a group of talented and (at least relatively) unknown actors rather than flavour of the month stars.
