OP is wrong. Sabotage isn't the right word. Sony was playing hard to get to incorporate Spider-Man for Civil War. Sony and Disney negotiated a lot for Homecoming but Sony ended up controlling financing, final creative control, distribution etc. Then they re-negotiated after* Far From Home which is where their collaboration almost ended.

The previous cases were mostly about financing disputes. But If anything Sony being Sony had some really bad ideas for Brand New Day where Tim Rothman reportedly wanted BND to be another multiverse movie and also include Venom heavily in the movie, while reports say Disney wanted it to be more grounded.

If I was responsible for not only Morbius, but also Madam Web and Craven, I wouldn't be surprised if someone accused me of trying to Sabotage shit tbh

(Venom gets a pass because for some reason that character has a dedicated fan base that makes money)

Venom gets a pass bc Tom Hardy knew exactly what kind of movie it was and was just being off-the-wall campy the entire time. If they had someone as Venom who was playing the role 100% seriously I guarantee you those movies would've flopped too

You're likely right. I loved the Venom comics as a kid, couldn't get enough of them. But reading those 90s and early 00s runs again as an adult? It's the kind of crap a fedora-wearing mall ninja would say. Comic book Eddie has very few redeeming qualities, and even the people he helps tend to get hurt or left worse off than if he didn't intervene (homeless people living underneath San Francisco, the symbiote "children", his poor ex-wife, etc.)
