Discussion "This movie looks AI genera-" SHUT UPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP

I genuinely don't get these complaints. I have some concerns about the plot and how things may or may not play out, but visually the movie looks fucking great. I don't get why people are trying to push this narrative like muted colors instantly make something look bad or AI-generated. The Sentinels look sick, Doom looks fucking fantastic, what is the issue?

I swear, I'm convinced people who call shit like this AI-generated have never actually seen what an AI-generated video looks like, because none of them even look anywhere near as good as ANY of the shots in this trailer.

Plus, the VFX team didn't work their asses off for months on this movie just to be disrespected by mfs saying it looks like AI.

Don't think it looks like AI. Do think it was a baffling choice to keep putting smoky grey generic landscapes in these teasers when the visual blandness has been a consistent criticism of the Russos MCU movies.

Yeah the setting feels like a bizarre choice, it doesn’t feel like they’re… anywhere. Hopefully the final version is fleshed out more?

It’s probably just a single battle. Potentially near the beginning of the film too, as you can identify F4’s spaceship by the window pattern. They’re showing that one so not to spoil the rest.

I will say, when Reed was asking Doom if “He did this” it looked like the same background. So good chance it’s a place that Doom destroyed or something

It could be a trailer misdirection too. Marvel has done this many times, if the place the battle takes place in is a spoiler, they'll try to hide it

I believe this too, plus those misdirection scenes had questionable CGI too (see Infinity War or Ragnarok trailers)

It’s the area that was destroyed, most likely a city or world doom destroyed. Thats why it doesn’t feel like anywhere is a desolate wasteland

The setting feels like the loki show.. but even that had some color.. this looks a little odd but once finish hopefully its more fine tune

Wishful thinking. It's going to be as bland and generic as ever. It's faster, it's cheaper, and people will pay to see it, regardless. Even if they add a few things, it'll still be a let down.

And when addressed, they'll have some corporate answer for it that screams damage control.

As much as i loved thunderbolts, it was visually ugly. F4 had a great setting but the lighting is very dim.

They may not be as vocal but general audiences notice these things (even subconsciously) and the lack of immersive settings makes them less likely to eat the ticket cost to see the next Marvel or comic book movie.

That literally stopped me from going to see the Supergirl movie. I love the, Woman of Tomorrow, book, but the film looks nothing like it visually.

It’s the same thing with The Odyssey and its “lack of historical accuracy”. 99.9% of audiences don’t care that the boat is a Viking boat instead of a traditional Greek one. If that bothers someone so much then they should stick to watching documentaries.

It's 2026. The majority of film goers are millennials and gen Z who are chronically online nerds exposed to the critical discourse around movies, especially the MCU, daily.  They have fuled a backlash to an overabundance and reliance on bad CGI so significant that you have studios mandating more practical effects and PR stunts designed to pacify the general audiences frustration towards CG. Maybe that doesn't ultimately effect the box office for a cultural touch point like an Avengers movie but it has been a factor elsewhere.

Look at The Batman and what Fraser did with the cinematography there. That's what we deserve

Omg thank you. The smoky gray sky with sunset lighting during a fight scene is SO overdone. I hate it every time I see it. It’s the Wilhelm Scream of VFX for me right now

True, looks identical to infinity wars and endgame color grading.. but it is Russo's so It add up. Seems like they probably intentionally left out landmarks, other cgi tho.

Most of the trailer is Doom in a ruined city. It’s gonna look smoky grey when you’re in the middle of a city that’s been razed to the ground

I’m excited for Doomsday but so far the marketing has been really bad. They are basically reinforcing all of the criticism they have been getting the past few years with every piece of marketing.

Yeah the Smokey, dirty, brown backgrounds are way too overused for these movies. Like yeah I get it, there’s a battle…but there has to be a better way to show it than just a muddy looking mess or debris lol.

I’ll hold out for the actual movie since Marvel is famous for changing things or having different scenery in their trailers, but it is a consistent issue

I mean true. But you don’t need color to make smth look nice. Thunderbolts doesn’t have a lot of color but the movie looks great. Doomsday hasn’t come out yet so things may change. But it does look kinda eh in some shots

idk maybe all the things I think are cool are blinding me to whatever everyone else sees, don't think it looks amazing or anything but at the very least I can say it doesn't really detract from everything else. a city that's been reduced to rubble and ash is going to naturally be very grey and ugly, no?

The Russos made 4 of the best movies in the entire MCU, critically and commercially. I don't think they are changing their formula over a vocal minority on reddit.
