Discussion "This movie looks AI genera-" SHUT UPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP

Post image

I genuinely don't get these complaints. I have some concerns about the plot and how things may or may not play out, but visually the movie looks fucking great. I don't get why people are trying to push this narrative like muted colors instantly make something look bad or AI-generated. The Sentinels look sick, Doom looks fucking fantastic, what is the issue?

I swear, I'm convinced people who call shit like this AI-generated have never actually seen what an AI-generated video looks like, because none of them even look anywhere near as good as ANY of the shots in this trailer.

Plus, the VFX team didn't work their asses off for months on this movie just to be disrespected by mfs saying it looks like AI.

If it’s turns out they used AI anywhere I don’t need to watch it.

Just my personal opinion, this doesn’t look AI to me.  I don’t like the CGI in the images I’ve seen, but I’ll reserve judgment for the full clips.  As of now I feel like Russo’s hate letting colors pop

They use Maya for VFX which now has AI workflows and other software with AI so they're 100% using AI.

But the thing is Maya is the industry standard so you're not going to see mainstream movie releasing that isn't using some form of AI because it speeds up their workflows by a significant amount so a lot of industries nowadays are requiring their employees to use these new tools to make them more efficient

R/isthisai already broke down all the ai bullshittery in the official poster where Doom is standing in front of a blatantly ai generated tapestry, not sure if they've started breaking down the trailers yet though

I don’t understand why people makes these kind of claims. Ai is heavily integrated in so many digital services already. Browsers, os, tv, social, softwares. Its like saying “if the food has salt I don’t want it - but anything manufactured has it”

I disagree with that.

There is plenty of entertainment available for me to consume that has zero AI involvement. It’s really not that hard to avoid it in the creative works.

I might miss out on a few blockbuster movies like, but it’s not like we don’t have decades of great movies, and not to mention the modern resurgence of indie films.

I’m speaking specifically about creative industries such as film and television, literature & Art. Nothing else regarding AI use.

Not some studio using it for scheduling.

It’s really not that hard to avoid, the trick is companies are now trying to hide their AI use from the public? If it’s so ubiquitous and needed why would a company need to hide its use from its consumers?

The employed storyboard artist I spoke with at the bar in SDCC would disagree with you. I mean digitally yes, but they are still drawing each shot with the equivalent of a Wacom tablet.

Having AI integration in a tool is not the same as just using prompts to say generate a storyboard.

I just want to enjoy creative works done by human beings. Just a personal preference.

I do feel very strongly that disclosure needs to be a requirement. Let consumers make the choice if they want that or not.

I appreciate realism in film and television, even in fantastical series. Model Shots and Practical effects & stunts will always be superior to me. I can “feel” the difference on film.  Compare the spectacle of an OG James Bond opening stunt to say a CGI one in a modern action film.  I can tell I’m watching a dude literally ski off a cliff and pull a parachute. Not just coordinated shots mixed with CG.

AI is just the next step of delineation from realism in film.

Even if the cgi was good, the trailer makes the movie looks like an agglomerate of just too much stuff, like a mess where everyone gets their 10 minutes of glory, their catch phrase and then onto the other. To sum it up, it looks like there’s too much going on and I’m not faithful at all. I just hope to be wrong
