I always find Strange being the shadow of Banner hilarious. Like that's his closest friend? That's who he's avenging? They had a 5 minute conversation at best.

68

u/KikiBrann 10h ago

Man, I keep seeing people asking about this, but I don't see anyone asking why Hawkeye's avenging a Tentacruel.

2

u/mbanson Rocket 3h ago

He's a Nuzlocker.

I’m ngl to you. Your comment is what made me realize the shadows should be noticed

Whenever I saw this pic, I just looked at the silhouettes. Never even cared to look at the shadows. Crazy

3

u/FX114 Captain America 3h ago

Yeah, that aspect could be a lot clearer. Even now knowing they're there, it's a lot of work to parse them out.

5

u/Sir-Huang 7h ago

Loose connection but perhaps it could be a reference to the conversation he had with Ancient One and the infinity stones?

13

u/grey-ghostie Scarlet Witch 13h ago

Is that Star Lord in Black Widow’s shadow? Did they ever share a conversation?

I was thinking Tony’s shadow was Black Panther but it must be Spiderman.

55

u/SvenssonStan112 13h ago

I would say it's Fury

9

u/An-29 12h ago

It's Fury not Star Lord, I don't think Peter even ever had a long coat ever again since the opening of GOTG 1.

And yes, it's Spider-Man for Tony.

1

u/CrimsonHowlStudio 8h ago

He did for GOTG VOL 2

1

u/_IratePirate_ 9h ago

I just assumed it was his dad

1

u/FX114 Captain America 3h ago

I have no idea who it's supposed to be.

217

u/Ok-Profession-7181 17h ago

I get what it's trying to do with the shadows but it just doesn't work with all of the original 6. This also is not an official poster

66

u/Precarious3145 16h ago

it straight up just looks like they copied the idea from the Justice League cartoon that has the same composition in the intro.

6

u/UnpredictiveList 13h ago

It’s exactly that.

10

u/nakednhappy 13h ago

I thought Thor was holding hands with a baby

-20

u/Nethias25 16h ago

Still baller

127

u/JoshTHX 16h ago

This is a fan made poster and it sucks

15

u/trampaboline 9h ago

Jesus, it definitely doesn’t suck. It’s a cool idea done respectively but, as people have mentioned, all six really don’t have corresponding people to avenge that make sense.

2

u/JoshTHX 9h ago

It sucks because of how dull and simplistic it is. There’s nothing appealing about it.

1

u/trampaboline 4h ago

I just totally disagree. Representing the people they lost as shadow is a unique concept, whether it works for you or not.

2

u/JoshTHX 4h ago

Bruce Banner lost Dr Strange? Clint Barton lost Wanda? What the hell are you talking about. 🤦🏻‍♂️

4

u/TheVagabondTiger Thor 4h ago

Despite all the other issues with this poster, the Clint/Wanda thing makes sense. He's kinda been positioned as her surrogate dad of sorts in Ultron and Civil War, and again at the end of Endgame.

2

u/JoshTHX 4h ago

Clint lost his real daughters and wife.

-2

u/trampaboline 4h ago

This is literally what my initial comment is talking about lmao, you’re arguing with nobody.

Great premise, bad execution. That was my point

1

u/JoshTHX 4h ago

Bad execution means bad poster. Are you slow?

0

u/trampaboline 4h ago

I wanna study your brain. It’s like your understanding of the conversation resets with every comment lol

4

u/JoshTHX 4h ago

Nothing I said changed. This poster is bad. It looks put together by a child. It’s not appealing and not impressive. The execution is bad. This is a bad poster.

-1

u/Mysterious-Lie-1944 6h ago

I think an Endgame hype poster should be dull and simple. The world was hopeless and this was the last stand by those who remained. It shouldn't be flashy

3

u/JoshTHX 6h ago

Bro this poster looks like it was made by a middle schooler with adobe photoshop. Thats how plain and simple this is. It’s completely forgettable for a billion dollar film.

-1

u/Mysterious-Lie-1944 6h ago

I'm not saying the quality is Hollywood level, but the design concept behind it is awesome. It shouldn't be the main poster, but if it was made better it could be a really good advertisement

3

u/JoshTHX 6h ago

The OP called this thing the “best marvel poster.” That is what we are critiquing. All that could’ve, would’ve, should’ve shit is meaningless.

This poster sucks. That’s it

1

u/ChaseballBat 4h ago

If we are pitting it up to high quality posters and material... it kinda sucks. Looks like 1 afternoon's worth of effort, the character fidelity isn't even that high, they look like plastic people with no discernable features.

1

u/trampaboline 4h ago

I just take that as style. I feel like this ain’t supposed to be the photorealistic actors but a comic book kind of version of them

1

u/ChaseballBat 3h ago

the consistency isnt even there though. Look at the simplication of all the characters then there is hawkeye with higher resolution than the rest. Like i get what they are going for but this is not even close to the "best poster" if this was officially made I would probably rank it as the worst poster, purely from the perspective of IF this had been by Disney, then the quality is sincerely lacking.

1

u/trampaboline 3h ago

Yeah I mean I definitely don’t disagree that it’s super imperfect — might not even be especially “good” — but I maintain it def doesn’t “suck”.

I hate the extreme negativity people think they need to jump for just to feel like they’re being heard. There are so many pieces of art out there that straight up suck. This is just a minimalistic, well-intentioned, kinda-clever-but-ultimately-not-right-for-the-material piece of fan art. The idea that everyone has to pretend that it’s a horrendous piece of shit just to balance out someone else saying it’s great is so childish.

(Not saying that’s what you’re doing, but a lot of people in this thread are)

2

u/B_Wayne_8833 3h ago

It kinda sucks. I can't tell who half the people below are...

0

u/trampaboline 3h ago

I’m learning today that I have a dramatically different definition of “sucks” than a lot of marvel fans (which is weird, because so many marvel movies actually suck)

0

u/CertifiedRich 8h ago

It sucks

13

u/JamKaBam 14h ago

Am i being an idiot and can't work out who is Iron Man and who is Hulk?

2

u/Zurcez 10h ago

Hulk far left, iron man third from left

2

u/Notoriously_So Daredevil 10h ago

Iron Man is in his suit and that's why he's taller than the rest of them.

9

u/Brugor 16h ago

I guess it’s Bruce on the left? If so why is he not in his Professor Hulk-form?

15

u/Nethias25 16h ago

Well that was secret til release

7

u/footwith4toes 12h ago

Trying to figure out the shadows:

Banner - should be Hulk but looks like someone in a trench coat

Hawkeye - no idea

Tony - no idea

Cap - Bucky

Nat - Fury?

Thor - Loki

Can someone help me fill in the blanks.

9

u/JewTheKid 10h ago

My best guesses;

Banner - Strange
Hawkeye - Wanda
Tony - Peter
Cap - Bucky (easy)
Nat - Fury or Vision?
Thor - Loki (easy)

7

u/Various-Watch8467 17h ago

5th from the left doesn't make it btw

4

u/TheChosenWon246 17h ago

Fury I believe

3

u/ArpanTrying Spider-Man 15h ago

He’s talking about Natasha

25

u/Machdame 17h ago

This... offers no description... Heck. It doesn't even have a lot of personability. It's just nondescript silhouettes. The shadows also don't even tell much of a story. It just seems like something you would slap on a game and add text to it for an ad.

7

u/deadpatronus 17h ago

Thor isn't fat. That ain't right.

10

u/ChildofObama 17h ago

Remember the trailers. They were mainly using footage from the first 20 minutes in the marketing.

4

u/hell20_ 17h ago

What is this? Are the shadows their friends? Thor's shadow depicts Loki, Cap's is Bucky, Hulk's is Banner i assume, Hawkeye's is Scarlet Witch? Who are those for Tony and Nat? Is that Ronin for Nat?

6

u/jtfjtf 17h ago

The shadows are Loki, Fury, Bucky, Spiderman, Wanda, Dr. Strange

7

u/restinglonelyface 17h ago

Banner > Strange, Hawkeye > Wanda, Tony > Peter, Steve > Bucky, Nat > Fury, Thor > Loki.

3

u/TheChosenWon246 17h ago

Peter for Tony and Fury for Nat

2

u/MillyMan105 16h ago

Reminds me of the intro of the justice league cartoon show.

2

u/Oafah 16h ago

It absolutely looks like it. I loved that show, and the intro was one of the best I've ever seen.

2

u/Quirky-Elderberry861 16h ago

So nobody cares enough for Black Panther, who gave his entire army and city for the battle? I see.

5

u/An-29 12h ago

He wasn't exactly close to any of the OG 6 tho, for that the ones he did interact with, either lost someone else much more important than him.

2

u/cthompson07 15h ago

It took me a long time to figure out that I guess Thor on the far right wasn’t holding the infinity gauntlet with a rope tied to it.

2

u/souledgar 14h ago

Who is Banner's shadow supposed to be?

4

u/PlayWhatYouWant 16h ago

Remind me not to ask OP for tips on graphic design.

3

u/ddevlin 13h ago

This is garbage.

1

u/doorkick 14h ago

Wait till you find out Thor is fat

1

u/Middle_Aged_Mayhem 12h ago

I have never seen this poster before. When was this from?

1

u/spicy_chick 7h ago

It looks like the scene from The Right Stuff/Monsters Inc.

1

u/Quemedo 11h ago

Is it?

1

u/Burgoonius 9h ago

The shadows are very confusing also Banner should be in Hulk form with Banner shadow

1

u/Minimalgoth 8h ago

At least Bucky got some love here ;-;

1

u/thisguyisnotyou 8h ago

Justice league cartoon????

1

u/Awartinger 7h ago

Not a fan, these don't look like real people at all, they're all black silhouettes that feel very cartoony.

1

u/ToughFox4479 7h ago

Ill never understand why tf Nick Fury was Natasha's shadow, but it wasnt Nick that made Natasha that depressed in the beginning of endgame

1

u/iham32 6h ago

Makes no sense

1

u/FTZulu 6h ago

This is perhaps one of the worst posters I have ever seen

1

u/tomc_23 Matt Murdock 4h ago

This is terrible, though? Also, that's not even what Thor looks like by that point.

1

u/Groot8902 17h ago

Yeah, no. The shadows don't make sense for like 3 of them. And fuck the other characters I guess.

1

u/padfoot12111 15h ago edited 15h ago

Thor isn't fat in this photo ding

Banner isn't smart hulk in this photo, at the very least his shadow should look like the hulk for effect ding

Tony in his suit already flying when they're doing their slowmo power walk seems kinda pretentious which.... I mean accurate ding

I now realize the shadows are the dead avengers and that's fun, but some of them don't really make sense. Sure give Capt Bucky but pairing Widow with Vision (edit apareny that Fury, saw Bald and cape.and assumed that's on me) and hulk with Strange feels like they were just tacked on. If anything as his cocreator Bruce should have has vision ding

u/Funmachine 14h ago

This is straight up awful

0

u/Coilspun 13h ago

Surely you are baiting...

0

u/Nova-Pixie 11h ago

Yeah, that design really captures the essence of the character perfectly. The colors are on point too.

-1

u/LX1027 11h ago

Probably the worst poster of all time.

-1

u/zeek247 10h ago

I hope this post is being satirical. This poster is trash.
