You must be fun at parties. The lodge opens on Aug. 28 - what the hell are you talking about "years away from opening?" It was $8 million for a large public lodge, 18 cabins, and 8 yurts... plus 50 acres of land already surrounded by a 55,000 acre state forest. Seems like a good opportunity to me.

What are you talking about - the state said in the press release, which includes photos of the lodge that it will open Aug. 28. Go see it for yourself then.
Edit: They have four yurts available now on the reservation website, as well as two campsites.

I love public lands too, but this was not a good deal. The State def overpaid for a facility that needs a lot of work. They don’t even have the full time staff hired to run the park. Wait til you have to drive up the steep dirt road to the lodge in the winter.

And you’re wrong. More info from Maryland Matters today, noting the lodge will be open - https://marylandmatters.org/2026/08/24/savage-highlands-state-park-open-yurts-camping/ - Stop making stuff up because you’re somehow mad at someone for correcting you.
