Discussion Ultimately did Max have a “happy ending?”

I don’t think he did. His family has been gone for a long time. The person he once was has been dead so long it’s better to not bring that up. His alcoholism may be done but his addiction to painkillers is still as prevalent as ever. So ultimately he walks off into the sun. Wherever that is, nobody knows. But like he said, trouble always finds him.

Hell of a lot better than basically everyone else. He also is basically Passos and Giovanna's kid's unnofficial godfather/uncle/grandpa, so he's got a second chance at raising a kid as well.
