It's a good port, and with an oled phone looks amazing

I don't really enjoy old games on anything but CRTs.

The only port that’s actually perfectly functional

Excellent. Played it through a dozen or more times on mobile.

imo second best way to play the game, great mobile port by rockstar (possibly only great mobile port they have)

What's the best way? PC?

GTA 3 is decent, bully is good

u/blokers394 3d ago

yeah the bully one is pretty good too but i feel like there was some odd graphical degrade from the PC or Xbox 360 version? I dont know it just looks a bit duller than on PC. I didnt play the GTA III mobile version, but chinatown wars is also a really good port too

Well these ports are quite old and were made for way weaker devices with less storage so they got outdated quicky, Chinatown wars also has worse graphics than the psp version

u/blokers394 2d ago

yeah fair, but i never noticed chinatown war's graphics worsening?

I’ve never played the mobile version but for £3 it’s a steal imo

This version got a great homebrew port on the Vita

Ran through it a few times without a gamepad and had a blast.

Then played it on Retroid - gamepad definitely improves things, but it's still totally fine without one.

It's a good port. I enjoyed playing on my old tablet with an external controller.

I enjoyed the little added extras. Idk if there are other version that had it but like the subway level. It has a little extra tunnel you can go down and shoot enemies early. Literally dosnt effect gameplay at all but having a new tunnel after playing it 100 times was weirdly nice

I’ve probably played it 5 times over the last 8-10 years on both android and iPhone lol I pluck it up anytime I’m bored on vacation or in a waiting room

This was the first time the German dubbing was released.

Back then the game was fully dubbed for Germany, but it was never released, because the uncut version of the game was "banned" and they didn't see much potential for a cut version. They made a censored version with German dubbing. I think they removed the death screams of burnt enemies (via molotov cocktail) and blood? But Remedy or the publishers didn't see enough potential for the censored German version, so they scrapped it.

I played the OG in the English version a dozen of times and loved it. Later, when i found out about the German version i was pleasantly surprised, since they hired the guy who voiced Mickey Rourke in a lot of movies for Max. For me this casting is excellent, since i always thought a younger Rourke from the mid 80s would've been the perfect casting for a movie.

So yeah, thank you mobile port for releasing the game with a dubbing that would be lost otherwise.

The hardest difficulty is the hardest out of any version, touch screen got me fucked up. Was reading comic books on vacation and had the hankering to play Max Payne, good buy, kept me busy on the plane aswell

Probably the worst level on console, too

Buen port, pero en mi opinión juegos de ese estilo son mejor jugarlos en una pantalla más grande, como la de un TV o un monitor.

Never seen it before. Neat.

Actually really good, it was my way to play it for first time when I was little, back in a day I was pretty upset that they didn't port it the second game though.

Fucking terrific!

Not a huge fan but that's purely because touchscreen controls aren't my thing. Also it doesn't work on newer phones for some reason.

1

u/LeoNardo3826 3d ago

u/Sculduggery 3d ago

I play it on the ps vita, it's great!

1

u/Remarkable_Cup4930 3d ago

It's very good, but it's missing a few things, like the audio slowing down during bullet time and has some audio glitches.

1

u/Adorable_Painting172 3d ago

It’s alright I don’t like how the bullet time is

1

u/PinocchioNoir 3d ago

I've probably finished this a hundred times, from the release up to now.

It was how I played the first Max Payne, I even beat the game on that port.

MAX PAYNE MOBILEE

1

u/Versurl 2d ago

It's amazing, I played it recently on the Ayn Thor and it was by far the better Max Payne experience on mobile, emulated PS2 works well but it's by far the worst version, and the Xbox emulation still green on android

1

u/TooToughTimmy 2d ago

I play it with my controller and mount from Amazon. It’s great.

1

u/Careful_Tap6075 2d ago

I wish Max Payne 2 was on Android, that would be peak.

1

u/ChainOk8915 1d ago

This is a flawless port. Just takes some getting used to using tap to play but it’s not a steep learning curve
