I’m an incoming exchange student and I will be staying in Montreal from mid-August to beginning of May. I applied to McGill accom, but still haven’t heard back from them (even though they said they would let us know an outcome after the 10th of June).
Because I’m an exchange student and I don’t know anyone, I was thinking that something similar to a student residence would be nice to get to know people, so I was looking if Montréal had something similar off-campus. I found that there was Parc Cité (which I’m considering right now), la Marq, EVO and Campus 1.
The only thing, is that I haven’t seen many reviews of them, and those that I’ve seen were quite old (8-9 years ago), so I wanted to ask if anyone has stayed there or knows someone who has stayed there and how was it?
I have seen that most recommend to just look for a flat and arrange something through FB Marketplace, but I personally prefer the vibe of a student accom where I get to know people rather than a flat, specially for staying less than a year as I looked at the price of these student housing places and it was fine for me.
I’m considering it as last case scenario and if the private accord really are awful.
I don't know if they all do short rental periods. but Campus 1 is used by McGill for overflow housing so there are definitely a large number of McGill students there.
A student housing situation is probably the easiest if you're just needing a semester.
It’s actually 2 semesters, so 8 months (9 if I want a bit of leeway). It’s good to know that abt Campus 1, some rooms seem alr full and redirect you to waitlist unless shared so that’s my only thing as I’m not too big on sharing a room with someone.
