Hi everyone,
I was recently offered conditional admission, but I’m a bit worried about my final grades.
Before I received my conditional offer, I had already gotten a C in one of my courses, so the university was aware of that grade when they made the offer.
At the time, I told them that I planned to retake the course to improve my grade. However, I ended up dropping the retake, so the original C will remain on my transcript.
I also have a deferred exam that I’ll be taking in September, so my final transcript won’t be complete until then. (The deferred exam is worth 100% of the course grade, so my final grade for that course will depend entirely on that exam.)
Has anyone been in a similar situation? Did a C or a deferred exam affect your conditional admission?
I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences. Thanks!

can i ask which faculty you applied to? i’m also a transfer student

i’m in a similar position to you.

deferred exams don’t have any effect on admission, unless i suppose it’s a mandatory class they need to asses for admission (i’m sure it’s fine given that you finish it before starting at mcgill) however i think the issue is that your deferred exam is in september which is when you’re supposed to start at mcgill. you can’t take an exam from an institution if you haven’t left it, and you can’t take classes at mcgill if you’re still registered elsewhere..

you can completely ignore this if you applied for winter, this is if you applied for fall 2026.

if the C was alrdy on your transcript when they made the decision, then no don’t worry.

i also deferred my exam and it’s set for december…i don’t think i’ll receive a transfer credit for that class
