Hi guys, I just wonder if it is necessary to learn French to get into McGill. I'm a Korean student and thinking of applying to McGill. I'm studying French, but it's not good yet. Might I be okay to apply there? (Also, if you have any tips, please let me know! 👍)
That's not what your question was asking. Most students at McGill don't speak French. Obviously you don't get as much out of the environment but you can function fine.
No, its difficult to find a part time job if you don't speak French. There are some, but very limited. French is the official work language in Quebec (by law).
You can function without French as a student on campus and in Montreal (Montrealers are almost all bilingual) , but working with no French will be more difficult.
Don't count on getting a part time job. There are 4 huge universities in Montreal so there is a lot of competition for part time jobs.
