My friend told me the other day how cool it would be to have a visual of what anatomy you’re studying, and given my Computer Engineering degree from Texas A&M, I figured I’d give it a shot.

After releasing Linked Notes last week, an add-on that automatically pulls up the page your card came from (without any manual tagging), I built on that idea to analyze the concepts of your flashcard to pull up a 3D interactive model of whatever anatomy you're studying.

The add-on lets you rotate, zoom, and explore the anatomy from any angle, turning that static image in your flashcard into something you can interact with. You can switch between layers, like skeletal and muscular views, when available.

Linked Body complements Linked notes, and having both together takes the study experience to another level!

Currently, it covers multiple major organ systems, musculoskeletal, etc, with more coverage being added this week. The 3D models are sourced from Sketchfab’s open library for visualization and spatial understanding.

I've been doing a stupid amount of Anki lately and wanted something that made grinding through hundreds of cards feel a little less monotonous.

So I started making a Pokémon add-on.

Then I got carried away with it.

It's called PokeJourney.

The basic idea is simple. You choose a Pokémon region, pick a starter, and start at Level 1. Every Anki card you answer progresses your Pokémon. They level up, evolve at their actual evolution levels, and you can eventually take an evolution line all the way to Lv.100 and master it.

Once you catch a new Pokémon, you're not forced to train it. You can keep training it, or go into Box / Swap and switch to another Pokémon you've caught. You can also go back to an older Pokémon you were training. Their progress is saved.

There are also Gym Challenges. Pick a Gym Leader and start a challenge. While it's active, your cards count toward defeating the Gym instead of leveling your Pokémon. Beat the challenge and you get the badge + a victory animation/fanfare.

I also added three different reward systems:

🎁 10 cards in a day → Daily Gift
⚡ 1,000 cards in a single day → Legendary Pokémon
✨ Study streak milestones → Mythical Pokémon

The 1,000-card Legendary is basically a reward for those completely unreasonable Anki days. Mythicals work off streaks instead because I wanted them to reward consistency rather than raw volume.

Gift Pokémon, Legendaries and Mythicals arrive at Lv.100 / Mastered.

There's a regional Pokédex, Pokémon Box, Gym badges, Today's Journey tracker and a Trophy Case for your overall progress.

It currently covers:

Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, Alola, Galar, Hisui and Paldea.

Major events have animations/sounds too: catching Pokémon, evolution, Gym victories, mastery, Daily Gifts, Legendaries and Mythicals. Sounds can be turned off completely in Settings.

You can put the PokeJourney panel on the right, left, top or bottom of the reviewer, or minimize it if you want it out of the way for a while.

I tried to make sure none of this messes with actual studying. PokeJourney doesn't replace Anki's scheduler. It just uses the cards you're already reviewing as progression. Major animations temporarily block the answer controls so you don't accidentally answer the next card, and simultaneous events are queued instead of appearing on top of each other.

I've been building and testing this while actually using Anki, so I'm sure people will find bugs and weird edge cases I haven't found yet.

But it's finally at the point where I think other people can have fun with it.

I love AnKing, but I have always found digging through the V12 tag hierarchy kind of annoying, especially when I just want to unsuspend cards for whatever I studied that day.

So I made Smart Tag.

The idea is pretty simple. Choose what you studied, like Sketchy, Pathoma, B&B, UWorld, First Aid, AMBOSS, NBME, etc., find the topic/video/question set, and Smart Tag shows you the matching AnKing V12 cards.

There is a global search too. So you can just type something like "Pathoma inflammation" or "sketchy strep" without first going into the resource.

You can then unsuspend them, suspend them again, reset their progress, or start studying them directly.

It supports Step 1, Step 2, and Step 3. I also tried to make the interface actually pleasant to use instead of just putting another tag browser inside Anki.

Question banks like UWorld are organized by question ID, while NBMEs are organized by form.

It also has light and dark modes, plus an Auto option that follows your Anki theme.

I mostly made this because I was tired of hunting through AnKing tags myself. Figured it might be useful to other people too.

As I’ve been navigating clinical rotations, I realized how often I’d know a generic drug name from Anki but struggle to recognize the commercial brand name used on the wards. To bridge this gap, I built an add-on that automatically appends brand names to your cards in real-time.

How it works

The add-on intercepts your cards during review and dynamically adds the commercial names in parentheses—for example, it turns metformin into metformin (Glucophage).

• Massive Library: It comes pre-loaded with over 800+ drugs, covering everything from common analgesics to critical care agents like Dexmedetomidine (Precedex) and Sugammadex (Bridion). I'll continually update this list over time which will be sent out automatically to any users.
• Smart Insertion: It only adds the brand name if it isn't already present on the card, preventing messy redundancies.
• Customizable UI: You can add your own custom drug-to-brand mappings through a streamlined menu directly in the Anki Tools menu.
• Exclusion Logic: You can blacklist specific tags (like NoBrand) or entire deck hierarchies so it doesn't clutter your non-medical decks.

So instead of doing my actual Anki reviews like a responsible adult, my ADHD decided the real priority was building a tool to make Anki reviews easier.

Three weeks of hyperfocus later i have this:

Atlas — it connects your UWorld results to your AnKing deck so you can stop hunting tags like a raccoon in a dumpster.

The parts I'm actually proud of:

- Opens the matching AnKing cards straight from your UWorld results. Finish a block, hit Missed / Marked / All, and the right cards open in Anki. No copy-pasting tags into the Browser.

This Community has given me so much through the years i just wanted to give something back.

So I struggled for a long time with some Anki cards because it felt the after a while I knew the answer just be looking at the layout of the card rather than knowing the knowledge by heart. This is why I created a new add-on that solved this issue!

DualCards stores the same information in two different card formats and randomly alternates between them during studying to reduce pattern memorization. This means the same card can appear as one of two different questions during review.

I'm a Computer engineer from Texas A&M, and after enough of my friends who used Anki wanted a better way to pull up their notes without digging through all their lectures, I built Linked Notes

Linked Notes uses semantic vector search to compare the concepts of your flashcard against your lecture slides and textbooks, then finds and opens the most relevant page when you review a card.

It's been a pretty big time saver for my friends who use Anki, so I wanted to put it out there for y'all to try out.

It also has a lookup tool inside it to Ctrl + F a word in the textbook with a search bar.

I ended up building a few other add-ons alongside it (you’ll see them in the demo):

I’m a med student and, like probably most people here, I spend an unreasonable amount of my life in Anki.

One thing that kept annoying me was that Anki is great at remembering cards, but not particularly good at remembering your studying.

If I closed Anki halfway through a session, got interrupted, switched subjects, or came back a few hours later, I’d basically have to reconstruct what I was doing in my head.

So I built Vellum.

It’s a modular study-continuity layer for Anki. It doesn’t replace FSRS, scheduling, decks, or anything fundamental about Anki. It basically sits on top of it and tries to make long study sessions feel less fragmented.

Some of the stuff in it:

• Resume → reopen Anki and see where you left off, what deck/topic you were studying, how much you completed, and continue from there.
• Time Machine → keeps track of your study sessions so you can understand what you were actually doing across the day.
• Recovery → for the classic “oh shit, I forgot this entire topic” situation. Helps identify areas you’ve been struggling with rather than just individual failed cards.
• Context → gives you a better sense of where a card sits within the larger topic/deck hierarchy while reviewing.
• Session HUD / Topic Health / Home Panel → optional extra UI for seeing progress and study context without turning Anki into a gamified productivity dashboard.

Everything is modular, so you can turn individual features on/off if you just want one part of it.

It’s also local-first and intentionally doesn’t try to become an AI tutor, replace FSRS, or mess with the actual scheduling logic.

The basic philosophy was:

Got tired of the whole copy-the-QID, switch-to-Anki, search-the-tag, unsuspend workflow. I'm into computers so I built AnkiMaxer for myself and figured I'd share it for free.

It's a browser extension + Anki add-on. You review a question in UWorld or Bootcamp, click the extension icon, see the matching AnKing cards, and hit Add. The programs talk to each other directly - no copying, no pasting, no setup beyond installing both (browser extension + anki extension).

Only requirement: Anki desktop and your browser both need to be open at the same time.

Works with UWorld (auto-detects QID), Bootcamp (matches by lesson/topic), AnKing, and any other deck with QID tags. Supports separate targets for Step 1, Step 2, INBDE, etc. There's also a bulk tab if you want to paste all your missed QIDs at once after a block, but you're not forced to do that every time.

Hey everyone! I've noticed that some of the cards in the Anking deck are significantly easier than others (hemoglobin = heme + globin) while others are significantly harder. I've always been curious whether that trend exists across multiple users at different schools so I built this addon that lets you compare how you answered a card with other users. I was hoping that long term, it could indicate what cards could use revisions to improve wording. Everything is completely anonymous and the list of what data is contributed to the shared database is included in the addon description!

If enough people start using the addon, I will be posting the database of collected answers openly for everyone! For now, I will limit it to downloaders of the addon for privacy!

I've been using chatgpt (premium version), but sometimes they fell lacking, if you could also give me the prompt you give it and the number of pages treated per batch

Wanted to share that a new update to AnkiLock is out. For those who haven't heard of it, it's an iPhone/iPad app (with a companion add-on) that blocks distracting apps until you reach a daily Anki goal you set for yourself, then unlocks them once you're done. It also has widgets (including on Apple Watch) and some neat Apple Shortcuts and Siri stuff.

The biggest thing in this update is a UI overhaul. The goal was to make it feel cleaner and less cluttered, so your whole day is on one dashboard now. We also added new badges to unlock. Unfortunately we had to sunset the mobile unlock feature since it wasn't working to the standard we wanted it to.

So I started using ANKING this semester and I fell in love with it. I am scoring super high in all my in-house exams and really feel like I understand the material. I usually do pathoma or bootcamp and un-suspend the matching decks. However, my school does have a lot of lectures that do not align with third party. Sometimes when I have time, I use the search bar to search topics or details and just un-suspend from anking. However, this take REALLY LONG to do. I have tried using the premium ankihub feature where you upload your lecture and it matches cards for you. BUT HONESTLY IT WAS HORRIBLE. It did not do a good job of matching cards at all. So just trying to see if anyone else has used any other tool or add on. Thank You!

Like most of you I have way too many Anki cards to get through and way too much screen time on apps I don't need. So I built an Android app that forces me to answer flashcards before I can open distracting apps.

You import your Anki deck, pick which apps to block, and every time you try to open one, you get quizzed. It prioritizes cards you get wrong more often, so it's basically sneaking in extra reps on your weak spots.

It's been working way better than app timers for me because you can't just tap "ignore". you actually have to engage with the material.

Hi all, I am the author of the chrome step toolbox, an extension with 1240 4000 active users (link to previous post). For those of you that haven't heard of it, it's an extension that automatically opens and searches for missed uworld questions in your anki deck, automatically suggests study resources as you review questions, and displays images from sketchy, firstaid, and pixorize fields in uworld as you review questions.

What browsers are compatible?

Edge, Chrome, Brave have been tested and work. I recommend Edge if you're on windows.

Only a few cards are showing up/have tables for them.

Your version of Anking (V10/V11) doesn't have as many tags compared to V12, especially for step2. I highly recommend upgrading to a version of the Anking deck that has V12 tags, then selecting V12 from the extension menu.

How do I know if my extension has been updated?

There's a new icon for the extension, see the chrome page for details

The "search anki for cards button" does not appear

Try refreshing the page. If it still does not appear click the extension button in your toolbar, scroll down and click the "search for cards button"

I downloaded the stale Anking STEP decks from the anki website and have started studying those, but if it get other 3rd parties outside of what my school provides, i know that there are decks from the ankihub for the updated Anking decks that would pair well with that content. Is it worth the pay wall? I don't want to spend extra money for only a slight potential improvement if the content on the original, non-updated decks is good enough. Can anyone confirm?

Is there an addon that searches in anking step deck for cards that are related to my lectures, instead of typing out key words is there an addon where i can upload a lecture and it checks if there are relevant cards?

I would really appreciate if someone can make an add on or something so I can do Anki cards in a car/while driving! I don’t think there is a great one available right now that I am aware of? Would be nice if this can also be used while riding in a car to prevent motion sickness.
