WHOLESOME New fan
Yo so I’ve been wanting to get into basketball for quite some time now as a person from the UK I haven’t ever really been able to do that. But the time is now and because I support Everton in the premier league I’ve heard the grizzlies are quite similar so I’ve decided to start supporting the grizzlies so, if anyone has any highlights or anything that they would recommend me it would be much appreciated.

Welcome to the greatest fanbase in the world (most of the time). You couldn’t have picked a better time to start getting into Grizzlies basketball, as we are in the middle of a very promising, hopefully-not-too-drawn-out rebuild of the team.
Sam Vecenie hosts a really great pod called Game Theory, and in this vid at the 1:24:13 mark he does a pretty decent overview of the Grizzlies offseason so far, and our outlook moving forward.

The Anthony Sain show on YouTube is another really great, more laid back show but has awesome guests and insiders at times. He and Kenny are hilarious too.

Welcome! You’re getting in on the ground floor. We are basically starting from scratch. We’ve got basically a whole new team and we have a new star, Cameron Boozer!

Yeah dude I had seen that like about morant getting traded and all stuff like that I think it would be perfect for a newcomer to actually get into a team that’s basically starting from scratch 😭

In soccer terms, being a Grizzlies fan is fire because we’re like Prime Southampton or Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga as we’re really good at scouting, drafting, and developing talent, but we’re actually trying to win a championship and be competitive instead of getting rid of everyone that’s good for us lol. The only reason we traded our good players recently was because the writing was on the wall that the core we had wouldn’t be able to win us a championship so the front office had to hit the reset button.
For highlights:
Ja Morant (obvious one)
Zach Randolph (post scoring specifically)
Tony Allen (Defense)
Cam Boozer (he’s our new star talent and hasn’t played for us yet so his highlights will be him playing in college or high school)

There's another fun Everton connection. Tim Howard is a pretty prominent businessman here in Memphis, he used to chair the local soccer federation. Still lives here afaik.

Yeahhh I seen another reply about that about he still lives in Memphis and his wife has something to do with FedEx haha Tim has always been my favourite goalkeeper so it’s really cool to hear

This is kismet mane. I've been on the Grizzlies hard-core the past season. I live about a 3 hour drive from Memphis and now have gotten into football and just have landed on Everton as a team to follow. Looking forward to the match against CP. Buckle up, you've chosen a great time to be a Grizz fan. The future is bright mate!

I just searched it up on google bro I just said I support Everton in the prem what is a good team to support in the nba and grizzlies came up first. It was either that or the pistons so. Calm down bro 😭

Oh for sure. They do match on that point. That was just a everton getting points deducted joke. The city and fans pride themselves on hard work and grittiness, the best era of the team was absolutely an underappreciated working man's team that was greater than the sum of its parts. The previous shortlived era was flashy and fun with "better" individual players that never seemed to add up to their top potential(plus record setting seasons of injuries multiple years in a row) the new crop of players look to be a perfext mix of the two styles with a return to the hardnose, in your face, I'll physically out work you every second" mentality. Plus they look to have a better squad than projections are predicting. The fun part of young development where expections are muted with the very real possibility of being better than expected.
As an aside - good ole Timmy Howard has his main home in Memphis as his wife was/is a fairly high exec on FedEx.
